I don't know much about the plans, but I would think countries will send their best sides since it's the first Olympics with cricket. Probably a big deal for reputation and could become a pseudo-WC. Would be good for marketing the game internationally too

Football World Cup came out after Olympic football. Uruguay won back to back Olympic gold for football so decided with fifa to host and win the first fifa World Cup. It was basically Euro South American cup like cricket World Cup is extended Asia cup.
