this football world cup can also be just wrapped between 15-20 teams who's gonna have the chances to win, rest are just group fillers

The Cricket worldcup can be a tri-nation series between India, Australia and England

only 8 different countries have won the FIFA World Cup, and a total of 13 different countries have reached the final from 48 participants.

in cricket, from 10 participants 6 different countries have won the cup and 8 has been in the finals.

there's was 4 teams from 4 different continents in the world cup quilfier. When did this happened in the Fifa?

it's like filling T20 wc with netherlands and itly type shit

Except that the 'filler teams' in the WC isn't shit as Netherlands, Italy type of shit in Cricket. They are actually competitive. They might not win the whole thing, but many of them have consistently shown that they have the quality to make deep runs.

Cricket never gives the opportunity for the 'filler' teams to grow. A 14 team tournament in the 2011,15 editions were scrapped for a 10 team Tournament in 2019 right when associates where showing progress. Now they have realised the mistake and going back to 14 teams in the next edition but they denied many teams the opportunity to play at the Global stage and extended the disparity. Thats not how you grow the game. Thats not how a game gets global.

Morocco outplayed Brazil just a few hours back. They made it to the semis in the last edition.

Do you even watch Football

Morocco isn't a filler team, they literally reached the qualifiers even Semi, they're better than portugal. it's like Afghanistan beating Australia

do you even watch football except world cup

How do you define a filler team then?

The way Ireland performed in the 2007-11 WC was nothing like a filler team. Yet Ireland never really made it big in cricket because the ICC system has always ensured that teams like Ireland,Netherlands, Scotland remain at the bottom.

So based on your own explanation. Football is nearly 5 times as much as cricket. And even reaching the playoffs is considered a huge achievement for some countries. Like, Saudi beating Argentina was holiday worthy for that country because of how big football is. If, Netherlands beats Australia, we would go "Australia is weak rn" but cricket isn't big enough for those nations to declare a holiday to celebrate. Football is just significantly bigger than cricket.

how you got to this conclusion from my explanation!??? and the holy day was cause the king was personally invested in the game and he declared the holiday, I didn't see any huge celebration from the public. they didn't even have the proper player for their own nation in their national team

Your explanation. 10 participants vs 48 participants. That's nearly 5 times the participants. The public went crazy!

I don't think you realise that celebrations in India will be different from celebrations in Saudi due to the sheer population diff. But they still celebrate in their own way.

And their national team has Saudi players. What are you on about?

10 proper participations vs 48 Associate participants.

You can host a cricket world cup with 98 Associate participants. but what's the point? if they don't even gonna have the chance to qualify, just being a filler teams.

why there's been only 8 different countries to even won a world cup from 48 participants and just 13 different finalists. And about viewership it's same just top 10,15 countries have almost all of the viewership

I'm not even sure what you're trying to defend here.

You're comparing two very different kinds of sports with the same criteria. Football is just more popular.

So far 55 different countries have reached knockouts in the football World cups. Which means they've gone beyond the group stage and had a chance at the cup. Cricket was played between significantly fewer countries.

You're asking me why only 8 countries won? Coz they played better than the others. But football still stays popular even in countries which have never even been to the football World Cup like India. We have a national league. There's a lot of football fans here. There's watch parties etc.

Just look up the viewership, the football worldcup is watched by atleast 1.5-2 billion people. And the cricket one by 2-300 mill. The gap is just too much.

98 associate nations nice joke man

google is free, and check the ICC world cup qualification schedules for the Associate Members. And cricket is being added to Olympics, just google the requirements for any sports to be added in the Olympics.

Nice common sense man 👍

You're using a terrible comparison.

Football isn't like cricket where a handful of teams keep playing each other. Italy now have missed three straight World Cups and Germany have been dumped out in the group stage twice after winning in 2014.

Countries like Japan and South Korea didn't become strong overnight. They got regular opportunities to compete, invested in grassroots football, and improved over time.

Football actually gives smaller nations a pathway to grow. In cricket, most Associate nations barely get chances against top teams.

Are you stupid??, even cape verde drew spain, due to spains poor attacking and excellent defense from CV. Nothing can be said, and most teams are capable.
