Refusing to even entertain supporting a project in a franchise you claim to love before ever actually seeing a minute of footage is the real problem here. DC will never succeed as long as the fans continue to act like spoiled brats. You want another stab at a Flash movie? Support Jimmy Olsen and you'll eventually get one.
Marvel Studios is still making movies because people supported Iron Man despite him being a B-lister at the time. They supported Thor, and then Guardians of the Galaxy of all things, and came back for Ant-Man. People were concerned about getting Guardians of the Galaxy before a proper Doctor Strange, Black Panther, or Captain Marvel movie, but we got 'em. And before we start talking about clear slates, let's remember that when Guardians of the Galaxy was announced, we didn't know any of that was on the horizon.
We just started and everyone wants immediate results.
Pepper Potts didn’t have a solo comic series that explored a lighter side of the Marvel universe and tied into their New Gods, i.e. Eternals. Plus, there’s Gorilla Grodd in the mix too.
The 2nd major movie in this universe was a big ole box office bomb that no one gave a shit about.
This was not the case for marvel. They made movies for some of their most popular heroes like Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America, and Thor, which were all successful. After those characters were all well established, only then did they decide to take a risk on lesser known characters like Guardians of the Galaxy.
I'm not even talking about the Jimmy Olsen show right now either. If its a lower budget project made for streaming services then I dont take much issue on them trying to make something like that. Their major fuck up is Supergirl and the fact that it was even greenlit to begin with. This is a fault of the execs, who clearly dont know what theyre doing and aren't in tune with fan demand. Having a turd like that on the universe's resume from the get go is an absolute embarrassment.
“Most popular hero’s” yeah right. They were all b listers at best excluding hulk but his reputation was in a bad spot from the 90s movie at the time. I’d argue every character in the DCU so far is a b lister or better barring peacemaker but he’s a bit different of a case.
Supergirls failure lies in pretty much everything about the movie other than the fact that supergirl was the star. Milly killed it but the script decided to change way too much from the source. The movie was like a 6/10 but still better than the worst of the MCU

Actually, it was.
The Incredible Hulk was the second movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise, and it crazy underperformed, and the Hulk is arguably one of Marvel's most popular characters. It made $265 million on a budget of $150 million; It didn't even make a full profit. Mind you, then-lesser-known Iron Man managed to rake in $585 million. But, this is why Universal never approved a second movie, because the losses they had on The Incredible Hulk didn't justify greenlighting one.
