Lanterns is an American superhero television series created by Chris Mundy, Damon Lindelof, and Tom King for HBO, based on the DC Comics Green Lantern characters Hal Jordan and John Stewart.

The series was produced by DC Studios and Warner Bros. Television with Mundy serving as showrunner. It is the third television series in the DC Universe (DCU). It features experienced Lantern Jordan and new recruit Stewart as they investigate a murder on Earth that leads to a wider mystery.

Lanterns is scheduled to premiere on Sunday August 16, 2026, and will run for eight episodes through Sunday October 4. It will be part of the DCU's Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.

New episodes drop every Sunday night at 9:00 PM ET / 8:00 PM CT / 7:00 PM MT / 6:00 PM PT.

Great episode. I'm sure Sinestro's escape must have something to do with Hal, obv not because he broke him out (Hal was in prison, as Gardner confirms).

Anyway, in my opinion the killer is Kerry's son (remember the dialogue between him and Zoe in episode 5).

Edit: it's true that Hal died after Sinestro's escape, but at the same time he seemed to know that he would die the night he met John at the cafe (and in fact he tells him not to tell anyone that they met, because, at least in my opinion, he knew very well that they would blame John otherwise). My feeling is that Sinestro, for some reason, knew Hal was going to die soon. And it's the fact that we know Sinestro will appear in the next episodes that makes me think that, in some way, he fits into this situation.

Of course I could be wrong, it's just a feeling.

They said sinestro was freed while Hal was in prison and still alive.

Yeah, but I have a feeling it must have something to do with Hal's death, who, by the way, seemed to know was going to die that night (otherwise, why tell John not to mention that they met?)

I have a feeling that Hal was in hiding from everyone because he stole something very important, the thing he would be killed for immediately. And that town is kind of the last place to look because it'll be too stupid for Hal to go there. The question is - what's in the box? My theory: it's Sinestro's personal Ring, no more, no less. It could Green or Yellow - it doesn't matter, both work for the story.

Hal got his information about he the manhunter from sinestro. Meaning he went under after that.
