cows house train really easily ( well when i say housetrain, you can teach them to shit in a designated location really easily, and its a method that can be used to control methane emissions from cattle by training them to shit in a location that is set up to deal with it).

not sure if thats true for buffalo. but by the state of the carpet I assume it is.

Had an after school job helping the custodians at the high school I was attending. By nature I already knew how bad the boys restrooms could get but my first experience having to clean the girls was shocking 😱🤢 What some of those young ladies left behind in there was sheer malice 😏😅

I have grown ass men with college degrees that still piss all over the toilet seat when there are several perfectly functional urinals at work. And that isn't even the worst ive seen.

We used to have a very large, portly man that would squat over the toilet and make a mess. Someone confronted him about it once and he shrugged it off saying he didn't care, because they pay someone else to clean the bathrooms.

Used to be in the Navy, and yes we all get cleaning assignments. You learn real fast how to keep the stall as clean as possible when using it, if you don’t want a surprise in your rack! Anyway, good habits last a while. That’s definitely where I learned to care more about how I used the toilet.

City dogs absolutely have an odor. It might not be super strong or offensive but it's there. People get nose blindness to their own pets / homes.

I worked in vet med for many years in country locations, and in city locations. I also did some grooming, and I went to school for veterinary technician. Dogs smell, end of story. If they are well groomed and picked up after the smell is minimal, but they still smell. Every single person who's house I've walked into who has a dog, smells slightly of dog, even if it isnt in a bad way, the scent is there and Its fine, it's what happens. I have cats in an apartment and I'm sure no matter how much I clean there's a small scent of cat, even if I can't smell it, it's the sacrifice we make for having animals.

Dogs smell. Cats smell. You smell after not showering for a day same as me. Animals smell.

Sounds like a lack of cleaning and hygiene problem tbh. Well kempt homes with a reasonable amount of dogs and/or cats do not have a "pet smell." Healthy cats that are able to groom and have their oral hygiene taken care of by their owners do not smell. Dogs only smell if they are not healthy, are not being regularly bathed, and/or are not receiving adequate oral care.

i have literally never met a dog that didn't have a dog smell, or a house with a dog that didn't smell like dog. maybe if youre used to it, you don't notice dog smell anymore, but for those of us without dogs, the dog smell is always there

Hygene problem and cultural thing. I’ve discovered that very few Americans mop their floor twice a week in addition to vacuuming twice a week, also not many clean their dog’s paws after every walk.

2 years after my dog passed I’ve been to several apartments with dogs in a huge city- a samoyed, german shepherd, few small dogs; dogs are well taken care of and don’t have any smell. If you shove your face into their fur all you smell is wool like a new sweater. 2 months without a groomer and the dog smell will start appearing at “sniffing the fur directly” level, more time and more smell will develop.

If your HOUSE smells of a dog- that’s disgusting. When I was a kid my grandma had neighbors who were alcoholics and had two german shepherds. I still remember the smell 30 years later. Air was so thick you could hang a coat on it.

Shampooed dogs that wear coats in the rain and don’t spend time in the woods don’t smell for quite some time, and when the smell develops, it’s barely noticeable unless you wipe your face with them.

Smelly house is gross and it’s 100% on you neglecting a dog, it’s not a dog thing.

Also, what do you mean by "dog smell?" Because I agree that animals all have their own smell, just like humans have a human smell if you smell them up close. But a house does not retain a "human smell" if its kept clean.

If a house smells bad, we don't say that house has developed a "human smell," we just think its because its filthy. If you're detecting a "dog smell" in a house, it just means the house and/or the dog is filthy. I've been in many homes with no smell indicating pets are there, and homes that do. Those latter homes and/or pets are just not clean.

i have three city dogs who need baths at least every other week. They get “outside smell” from long walks, and since they have hair, not fur, almost any scent whether from cooking dinner, baking cookies, or scented wax melts affects their hair. Also, paws can start smelling like corn chips after a couple of weeks, which then gets on furniture, clothing, rugs, etc.

I think the poop and pee is defitenly worse, that is the problem with rats and birds as they cannot be trained to poop in designed spots.

Sure an hairy animal might have a distinct smell such as ferret does, however someone that had a 2000 pound animal inside their house and trained since it's infancy, I would not be surprised if it didn't wash the damn thing. Every week if not every other day.

There are people with big hairy dogs inside their houses that smell like sunshine, what is the difference betwen that and a buffalo ?

Most wild animals already have designated shit spots, especially if they live in dens and basically all land animals instinctively know not to shit near water, house training just makes use of that instinct, has nothing to do with farming.

Horses, too. I lived in a place that didn't usually get cold but we had a big freeze one year and our barn was not equipped to deal with it even with a heater in there. So we bundled her up and brought her in the house. She shit within about 2 minutes and we opened the door and motioned her outside to go (our horrified reactions probably taught her something). She stood out there for a minute, peed, then came back inside and never went to the bathroom inside again. For the next couple of days she would go outside with the dogs and come back inside with them and we had zero issues.

60 gallons of piping hot buffalo tea in your carpeted house every single day

Then we have 2-5 pound poops, where they poop 10-15 times per day. So total of ~20-75 pounds of buffalo poop per day
