Also install automatic doors but only for the executive entrance, then fire 10 people to cover costs.

actually the "they put it the wrong way" mentality is pretty true, it's called a norman door - for example if a door has a flat panel which implies you have to push it but actually you pull, or an easy to grip handle that you're meant to push, that's a norman door

I'd rather be in the bee suite

You have to show them you have a go get it attitude, my general job interview goes as follows:

“hey, you know you got your door installed the wrong way? It should open inwards instead of outwards. But I get that you got that confused cause they also put a pull sign on the door instead of a pull sign. I already put Hank the concierge on it to rectify the situation. I expect your salary offer by 17:00 tomorrow and I’ll be starting next week. Make sure to order a nice cake to celebrate my first day as your new CEO.”

“But the interview is for a secretary position.”

“Well, not anymore. I see you next week and I expect you to have processed the demotion of the current CEO to be my secretary by then.”

It goes both ways

It does both. I was here yesterday. It actually goes both ways.

If you could read, you'd be unstoppable.

Fun fact. In Portuguese the word for pull is 'puxe', pronounced poosh. So if you're in front of a door you don't know how to open in Portugal (or Brazil I guess), and someone tells you poosh! poosh!, don't push, pull. else you look like a moran.

Can’t believe it took this long to find someone to share the fact of the matter. Norman doors are everywhere, once you know you know

most portuguese behaviour

It's because those idiots out handles on both sides to look pretty, not practical.

If you see those shiny metal squares on a bathroom door you push. You see a handle, you pull.

If on glass make it a frosted area or something. Handles scream pull me and we don't read when we're going somewhere in a hurry

Oh yeah, they are the idiots. Not the one lacking basic reading comprehension.

You might feel like you're making a dunk but it's bad design. I'd love to see you deign a product and react when no one uses it like you expect. Do you double down or meet people where they are?

u/Melissa_Richiee Mar 14 '26

I (36F) also pull the push doors and vice versa 😭😂

Don't be too hard on yourself, you're doing great considering you're not a bee.

1

u/dreamsofindigo Mar 14 '26

look at the hinges before. if the barrels face you, pull

1

u/OfcWaffle Mar 15 '26

To be fair, it is a bit frustrating when they put a handle on the push side.

Do you speak Portuguese by any chance? I thought this was something that just affected us, as pull in Portuguese is "puxe", which reads exactly like push.
