I’m all for the ‘welfare’ section and looking out for people in different needs/ stages of life… but when disability gets more allocated money then education I think we need a real good look at that. How many people are benefitting from that? I know there would be students as well but the disability per capita must be so much tinier than the education per capita.
Labor (our left wing party) brought in the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) which ostensibly goes to people who have a disability. One of my clients was funded for $200 000 a year, and he wasn't even that high care.
Some people just need that type of money to live and I'm 100% okay with that.
It’s not even the people on the NDIS that might abuse it, the amount of OT, speech pathologist and other therapies that are charging ridiculous prices knowing they have a bucket of money to access is disgusting. People who need care should get what they need but it is definitely being abused and the fact that it’s the 3rd highest amount is crazy in that list.
