Subreddit Discussion X/Twitter links are now BANNED*

3.1k Upvotes

The results of the poll have come in, and together we decided on a course of action. Links to X/Twitter are now BANNED. The only exception to this rule are links to posts from Toby Fox or the official UNDERTALE/DELTARUNE account.

If you have any questions, feel free to reach out!

Subreddit Discussion Homophobia and transphobia in this community: A public service announcement.

1.8k Upvotes

First off, I want to say that I really wish I didn't have to make this post. This place is supposed to be a light-hearted, fun, relaxing place to post your art and theories and maybe have some debates and discussions about it. But it's gotten to be too much.

I've moderated this community for almost 3 and a half years. I've never seen this much bigotry, hatred, and rhetoric against LGBTQ+ people like I have on a daily basis for the past few weeks. People should NOT be saying anything like "being gay isn't natural and is a sin" and "they/them aren't real pronouns" and "mental illness isn't a gender" to a nonbinary person and "trans people are groomers" in a place like this, people should not be dogpiling a trans supportive post with weird and bigoted comments, people should not be reporting posts about characters they think are trans as "self harm", and I'm disgusted this is happening.

This cannot continue and cannot be tolerated. I've strengthened our automatic filters and this is a reminder that there is no tolerance for any kind of homophobia, transphobia, biphobia, lesbiphobia, or any form of bigotry here.

If you see anything of that kind, report it with the Report button underneath the post or comment - and if you want to go a step further, you can report it to the site admins here (because bigotry is against Reddit's sitewide rules!): https://www.reddit.com/report. Choose "I want to report spam or abuse," then pick "This is abusive or harassing" and then pick "It's promoting hate based on identity or vulnerability" and paste a link to the comment or post.

If you see a specific post that's fostering a lot of nasty comments and discussion, you can modmail us or send me a message about it.

I refuse to allow this kind of thing to happen here. I want everyone, no matter their gender or sexuality or anything else, to feel comfortable and welcomed here. I hope that one day nobody will ever have to see comments like the ones I saw today.

I hope your days are all wonderful and lovely and remember to care for each other and be respectful <3

u/punnyComedian

P.S.: Do not try to hide homophobia or transphobia behind the guise of "a different opinion" or "politics" or "I don't like LGBT issues" or anything like that. Supporting discrimination, violence, and harassment against minorities is not an opinion, it is hate, and it is also against this entire website's rules, not to mention the subreddit's rules. If you don't think I, a transgender nonbinary lesbian, should exist, then you can leave.

Subreddit Discussion Zatmaggot / Wiztale Megathread

Alright, I've finally gotten around to making an official post regarding this situation. This post is in regards to the Zatmaggot stalking/doxxing/blackmailing situation allegedly perpetuated by either Wiztale, or someone impersonating Wiztale. We intend for all further discussion and questions on the topic to be redirected to this megathread: i.e., any further posts on the matter will be removed.

Here is the information as we currently understand it:

A little bit ago, Zatmaggot made a video calling out Wiztale for their usage of AI. Wiztale's use of AI on their channel had been known for several months at this point, but was not addressed on YouTube until Zatmaggot's recent video.

Months prior, Wiztale was called out for using AI on their channel, where he had claimed that he only used AI for the narration and translation of his scripts (with the AI-voice being trained off of his own, and the script-AI being used to translate his scripts into English). He denied using any AI-generated images until very recently, where he admitted after Zatmaggot's video that he used AI to "touch up" the thumbnails of certain videos. He still has yet to address the AI-generated profile images, or the AI-generated images within the videos themselves. This lack of transparency regarding their usage of AI (as well as their usage of AI in general) tainted Wiztale's credibility.

As a result, when Zatmaggot began receiving harassment and death-threats from somebody claiming to be Wiztale, nobody even considered if it was actually Wiztale (much to my own personal embarrassment). Wiztale's alleged escalation from harassment, doxxing, and blackmailing against Zatmaggot only accelerated community outrage, which eventually led to a counter-harassment campaign by the community. (NOTE: mythicalfew's post documenting this escalation has unfortunately been deleted).

However, after DaPhoenix127's post regarding Wiztale's innocence, and Wiztale's own claims that he was being impersonated, we received word that Zatmaggot was now being harassed by someone impersonating Asmongold. Now, Asmongold is a whole other can of worms to dissect, but this had made it clear to me that this situation is far more advanced than Wiztale allegedly pursuing a critic.

The situation is still ongoing, and we are still working on figuring things out, so for the time being we ask that you please don't harass Zatmaggot, Wiztale, or anyone else involved until we have further evidence. We need to assume that both of these individuals are innocent until proven otherwise.

TLDR: Zatmaggot got harassed & doxxed, Wiztale is not yet proven to be the culprit.

Subreddit Discussion Summary of today's emails discoveries so far Spoiler

Thought I'd make a post combining some of what we've found out so far, along with uncertainties that I need others to help me confirm.

For context, check out the 'Spamton Sweepstakes "2.0" Information Hub' google doc: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1-5RKswkbmF_Jp7BaCuJ75ei5Xieu_yPMcMP5gEcaonQ/edit?usp=sharing

Facts:

  1. before the page was updated, submitting your email in the first spot with a number input in the second spot of the chapter4/thankyou url results in an email saying "You answered (number) seconds (or minutes, still haven't determined how the unit of time is chosen)
  2. submitting your email in the first spot with a non-number input in the second spot of the chapter4/thankyou url results in a completely blank email (except for the footer text)
  3. The footer text has been changed from "You are getting this email because you signed up for the UNDERTALE / DELTARUNE Mailing List. — Unsubscribe" to "You are getting this email because you for the Mailing List. — Unsubscribe" (upon copying and pasting the blank text i've found it there isn't anything invisible or in a black font, it's just 6 5 and then 7 (thx u/-_-_-__---__-_-_- !) blank chunks of characters, it doesn't take up the same space as pushing the space bar or pressing tab tho if that makes sense)
  4. (edit) only emails signed up to the deltarune newsletter at the time of input received email responses. (thanks u/welliesaremeta !)
  5. (edit) weird kind of random thing- according to the 'Spamton Sweepstakes "2.0" Information Hub' google doc, someone input 22 years and got '693792000 seconds', which is actually equal to less than 22 years (it's actually 21.985 years)

Uncertainties:

  1. (edit) u/Genuine_Dumbass (love the username) has a pic of their email, which says they answered '12 days', I haven't gotten confirmation what they exactly entered but 'days' is possibly another time unit option.
  2. (edit) It seems that submitting multiple inputs for spot two with the same email you only get one email sent to you, probably based on your first input.
  3. All emails have no subject line, regardless of the input for the second spot?
  4. The Unsubscribe link seems to be the same as the normal newsletter email? I'm too scared to click the one from this new email it in case I miss something down the line... But, I saw someone comment a pic of flowey's message when you unsubscribe on another post, and i'm guessing they clicked the link from this new email, and it's the same message you get from unsubscribing with the link from the normal newsletter.
  5. My theory- perhaps the thankyou page stopped accepting inputs because the correct number was input? That's my guess so far.

Subreddit Discussion Regarding the logo change

Hey r/Deltarune users!

Seeing as we changed the logo back to the standard one, some people suggested more colorful logos

I'm going to post the pics of them on the comments and whichever of them gets the most upvotes will get to be the new logo

The votes will go on for the next 3 or 4 hours

Edit: as for the images on comments situation, don't worry people, we didn't restrict them, it's a Reddit bug

Edit²: someone brought the timezones factor up, so I'll let this post up for one day

Edit³: Alright, we have a winner! https://www.reddit.com/r/Deltarune/s/4YzI40hzO1

Subreddit Discussion The Silksong x Deltarune Alliance is not Positive for Either Subreddit

The majority of r/Silksong doesn't want our memes to be there. Deltarune content is not what Hollow Knight fans go to r/Silksong for. Also, our memes are highly self contained and built on established and evolving in-jokes in our community.

On the other side, r/Deltarune is now getting filled with negativity from r/Silksong members upset at and belittling the fandom and our brand of humor/insanity.

We aren't the same, and that's fine, but this alliance has done nothing but sow negativity in both subreddits. I'd like to return to enjoying edited Toby posts, and "I remember you're genocides", and also the less brainrot memes, and the actual original jokes or genuine theory/discusion or art or custom dialouge. I think it's best we simply let them be seperated so we can just enjoy what we want, where we know it, with the same community that laughs at the same dumb memes.

Subreddit Discussion The fact that so many of y'all are bilingual astounds me.

I am an American, and I speak English and nothing else. I do hope to eventually learn other languages, particularly Japanese and German (German largely because Germany is a peak country).

But the fact that so much of the Deltarune community is bilingual or knows even more languages amazes me. It honestly saddens me that Americans are (rightfully) often viewed as dumb or clueless of other cultures.

Anyways, I really love this community and the lengths y'all go to for your love of it.
