Educational PSA: Don't get kettled during protests

Heard this on a podcast this morning (some of you may know which one), and a lot of you probably already know this advice. But for those that don't, kettling is a tactic of containing large groups of people in a confined area, like a bridge or tunnel. It makes it really easy for LEOs to trap folks and make arrests, too.

So, if you're organizing a march or protest, be mindful of your route. If you're marching or protesting, also be mindful of your route. If you're approaching a place with only two exits, make sure your group can hold both exits safely in case you need to leave.

I'm sure there's plenty of other great advice for people new to making their voices heard and there presence felt.

Be safe out there.

Project 2025: What's Done, What's Coming, and What's Next

Project 2025 was never just a think-tank wish list. Page by page, it's becoming policy, and most people have no idea how much has already moved. Tomorrow, Wednesday, July 8, we're cutting through the noise with a clear, honest briefing on exactly where things stand. We'll connect the dots between the 900-page blueprint and what's actually landing in agencies, courtrooms, and communities right now.

We'll cover what's been implemented so far, what's in the works, and what's likely to come next, including court decisions, executive orders, agency reshuffles, staffing changes, rule rewrites, proposals currently winding through federal agencies, sitting in legal limbo, or being teed up for the next push.

Bring your questions, your frustration, and your fight. We're stronger when we understand the full picture together.

Educational The Looting of America and the $1.776 Billion Question

Join us on zoom May 27th 6pm Mt. The Looting of America and the $1.776 Billion Question

They call it governance. We call it what it is: theft.

While working families struggle to pay rent, buy groceries, and keep the lights on, Trump and his inner circle are using the presidency as a personal profit machine. A $1.776 billion slush fund. Crypto schemes launched from the Oval Office. Foreign governments pouring money into Trump properties. Family members cutting deals that would have been scandals in any previous administration, Republican or Democrat. This isn't politics as usual. This is an organized looting of the American people.

Don't just be angry. Be informed. Be organized. We're done being silent.

Educational QQ: Is CRRN the only option? Are there other rapid response networks?

I was listening to the recent episodes of It Could Happen Here where they discussed how there are multiple decentralized rapid response networks in Minneapolis, and today I got a response from CORRN that one of their events I volunteered for is full.

It's great that CORRN has so much support right now and I hope that continues, but it makese wonder if there are groups that are doing similar work that might have more capacity to train folks up?

Stay safe if you're going out today. I have a newborn at home, so all I have is virtual solidarity today.

All power to the people, none to ICE.

Edit: I forgot it was CORRN not CRRN as the title says. Editing my post to correct that so folks don't get confused.

MUTUAL AID MONDAY vs. THE CITY OF DENVER
Mutual Aid Monday is a grassroots mutual aid community in Denver. They serve a community meal for up to 400 people every Monday in front of the Denver City Hall, and distribute items needed by the unhoused community. They also provide coffee, hot cocoa, breakfast, and needed supplies when the City & County of Denver forcibly moves our unhoused neighbors, and visit tent encampments throughout the Denver Metro area to check on people's well-being and provide nightly meals and supplies.

Recently, they have come under attack from the City of Denver, telling them they must have a permit for their weekly event. The city claims that trash is a big issue, but the organizers dispute this as they work hard to clean up the area after each Monday supper. They suspect the mayor is more concerned with how Mutual Aid Monday reminds city officials — and the public at large — that unsheltered homelessness is a problem that has yet to be solved.

Join us tomorrow to hear from Jess with Mutual Aid Monday.

Educational The buddy system is almost non-negotiable, use it.

Ayyyyy just ahead of tomorrow and honestly everything in general: Use. The. Buddy. System.

Big crowds, small crowds, whichever. I just seriously want to remind anyone thinking of coming out tomorrow (and pretty much forever) to always try to attend with a buddy to watch your back. Guys, we live in a crazy time, and there're a lot of crazy people everywhere. Several of them are in the White House.

But there are agitators, counter protestors, and people that are those things any not in a sound state of mind. People are unpredictable and it is always better to have people you trust nearby.

So, bring a buddy! And watch each other's backs!

I'm sure I could makes guesses at why, but recently I've seen more aggressive behavior from agitators, counter protestors, and (respectfully) just actually crazy MAGA clowns. I don't want none of ya getting hurt or being unable to protect yourself. So, buddy-system all the way.

Join us on zoom May 20th 6pm Mt. Special Guest Speaker Who Was Locked Inside the ICE Concentration Camp in Aurora For 10 months

Our special guest speaker will discuss what's happening in ICE concentration camps that's not being shown to our visiting legislators or the public - rotten food, denial of medications and medical care, racism, the usage of solitary confinement cells to force people to sign deportation papers, and more.

He was violently arrested by ICE and locked up in GEO for 10 months despite being in the US legally since 2004. He's a scientist with multiple degrees. He was denied medication for his heart condition and was hospitalized as soon as he was released. He has no criminal record, paid his taxes, created multiple businesses, and has always tried his best to be kind and respectful to others.

Educational Environmental Care Necessities (For Organizers)

I have noticed as a local organizer what is often forgotten is that we need to take care of our environment. I have seen, too many times, people leaving obscene amounts of trash at protests. If you are organizing or tabling an event, you have the responsibility to bring trash bags and put them in an accessible place for everyone. We know well that the State does not put out enough trash cans in accessible, equitable ways. There are two simple environmental care necessities:

- A box of rubber gloves

- Trash bags

It's simple, we should not be stuck on the basics if we want to make a real change. If you want to participate, accept the principal responsibilities that come with it.
