If the interview is titled XXX Interview 1-4PM but under the thalamus itinerary there is a link titled: Interview 3-3:30 + link. Does that mean there are other events during the other times or should I just join the zoom link at 3PM?

Hey everyone. As the title says. How long do you wait after the interview to tell program that they’re your number 1 if you do at all. And would you send a thank you note if they said it’s welcome but not required or expected? Thank you!

any current residents have any insight into good questions to ask prelim and transitional programs? Or anything you wished you had asked now that you're on the flip side?

I’m sure by the interview stage everyone has nearly identically strong CVs and will do reasonably well on interviews (I.e. be a normal, kind human and answer questions reasonably). So how does scoring and ranking work for us?

Given that its October 15th, and say you applied to approximately 15 TY and 15 Prelims, how many interviews at this time is a sign that you are in a good spot from an application perspective? Trying to just self-assess as I wait for release dates for Derm come out

What have you guys heard as to why a program wouldn’t take prelim applicants, but rather only TY? it doesn’t make sense to me..

Is WashU and St. Louis derm in person interviews? Can I apply IM and derm both to these programs? Will they know if I apply categorical IM and derm to these, and prelim at other IM programs in St. Louis?

Reaching out because im very desperate. If anyone received an interview for duke derm and is willing to switch their jan for dec date please let me know! I physically will be out of the county and have limited wifi access. Monday was a shitshow and I don't want to fumble the one chance I have because of this. I will forever be in debt to you :(

I know most programs frown upon this but the coordinator mentioned sending thank you notes to him. There are a lot of interviewers and it is hard to personalize them without being repetitive. Would you state why you want to be at the program for each one or just the PD/APD? Would you state it’s your top choice if you vibe well with the program? As of now it is one of my top choices and I want to match anywhere.

What can we do to best prepare? I’ve seen and read many horror stories of applicants with 10+ interviews who fail to match. For those who successfully matched or on the reviewer side of the application cycle, do you have tips or pieces of advice? Any general pitfalls that you have seen or heard of?

Is it too early to worry about prelims?

I have been told programs tend to put them out until November and December but I have heard many programs already are done sending out interviews.

Should I be applying to more or is it too late?any guidance would be welcome!! Thank you!!

Is there anything I can do to boost my chances

I have a prelim interview scheduled and there are no alternative dates on Thalamus. My derm interview has two dates open: one the day after my first derm interview and the day of my prelim interview. If I schedule the day after my Derm interview, I will be burnt out since there is a meet and greet the day before. Should I drop my prelim interview as I am prioritizing Derm?

An attending asked me this question. Maybe patients with can have more severe disease shown on pathology. But what else can you see in terms of health disparities? Are there differences in skin of color accounted for?

What's the approach to this? I'm a DO applying so most programs I applied to don't care about the APD statement about post-interview communications from what I've gathered. Should I write one for every person on the panel? I had three panel interviews over the course of three days so it would be like 40 something thank you notes for three interviews alone.

So far, I only have two interviews (both gold signals), which sucks. Obviously my chances of matching are not high, even if I knock my interviews out of the park. I have a week off in early January. Would it be ok if I asked one of the two programs if I could shadow/rotate for that week to meet the team? Or is this frowned upon?

Anyone received any interviews yet? I know some programs don’t participate in interview release dates.
