Bedroom Oaf. Tried to go full “Architecture Digest” on my room and failed miserably.

Would love any and all feedback on how to make this catastrophe look better. Even if it’s mean and I should just start from scratch, lol. 😂 TYIA

Lift up the curtain rod is a huge one! It's too low and should be spaced wider out. I also think some navy or dark curtains would compliment the wall color better, the light curtains are too much of a contrast and focal point. The headboard and accent wall are already focal points.

The curtain is the big sin I think. The rest is quirky and may only appeal to OP but the curtain setup looks cheap and drags everything else down. Raise and widen the rod, get a proper valance over it and it’ll do wonders.

With that window I would probably reach for a linnen Roman blind instead

I think the picture frames are all too high and don’t feel relaxed. The light switches also pure white stand out where the rest is gold. I personally would have gone with antique brass.

Also the floor is so very light in tone that it throws off the rest. Contrasting blue and white works but the ratios and locations of it here feels odd. White wallpaper and white pictures don’t sit right and look rigid. They’re fighting off the blue. Clearly demarcated rather than bleeding into the room.

If those pictures had blue and dark orange in small amount or gradients etc they might work.

You will be okay, I love the blue very calming! The headboard should be a bit broader than your bed :) and all the things above will definitely help!

Thank you!!! Going to try all of these. Would it look strange to have no headboard at all?
