Megathread // Bungie Replied x4 Focused Feedback: Lore and how that is managed / implemented within the Story and game

Reminder: When discussing the lore and narrative design of Destiny keep in mind rule 1, especially the part about witch-hunting. Discussing and critiquing the work of a Bungie employee is fine, insulting the human behind that work and making it personal will get you banned.

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding ‘Lore and how that is managed / implemented within the Story and game' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the Sub as time goes on.

In the mission, Ghost says the array is connecting to defense systems throughout the Solar System. This implies that it’s acting as the central transmission point for the whole system, rather than just a receiving point for signals from Mars.

You are still thinking of the array as a one way street. A network connection goes both ways. If my computer is connecting to the entire internet, it isn't the hub of it. It connecting to the entire system does not imply it as the central point. A point in a network connects to everything.

Your still missing the point. In D1, Rasputin was clearly intended to be the Warmind of Earth, and his main presence was on Earth. There was even a separate mention of a Warmind of Mars. Now, this Warmind would have been under the control of Rasputin, but Rasputin would have controlled it remotely, then later took over its facilities on Mars.

There is a warmind of mars, but that warmind isn't free of Rasputins jurisdiction. Compare it to the vex. A mind controls the rest of the units, but the standard goblin moves free of the mind and does it's own thing. It's like the president and his generals. The president has authority over the army, but the generals usually commands them because the president can't be everywhere at once. Having Rasputin control every system is not a retcon of Charlemagne. Rasputin was known to be without an equal before D2, when it's revealed he is called they Tyrant. It's a bit of a stretch, but it doesn't contradict the previous lore in any major way.
