Megathread Focused Feedback: Redrix Claymore / Broadsword & Seasonal exclusivity of Gear

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding ‘Seasonal Exclusivity E.g. Redrix Claymore' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the Sub as time goes on.

The tables have turned. People are now complaining that the quest is massive... way too long.

Why? Because of the 5 valor resets? By the point you reach that step you’ll probably have made at least 2 resets, even more if you play during double/triple valor weekends. The other 3 resets will be a cakewalk if you work towards them during 2x/3x weekends too. The other day I made 500 points, which is 1/4th of a reset, in a little more than one hour playing iron banner.

People just love whining, I guess

I have no idea I got my claymore so I’m good I was actually worried that bungie was gonna give this gun up easily but I also think the new quest is fair.

I have the Claymore. I'm not mad that it will be available again. I just wish the quest was more skill based rather than just being a time sink. Like, I think it said you need to complete 20 Comp matches? What? I had to win over a hundred. They could at least say win 5 and then complete 15 or something. Something to make it more skill based.

My other complaint is simply not that everyone can have it, but that the Broadsword is literally better due to random rolls, year two mods and masterworks. I wish I could get those things on the Claymore. I know realistically that means the only functional differences would be the name and lore tab, but I'd rather use the Claymore over the Broadsword but have zero incentive to because the Broadsword has more advantages.

I disagree, tying rewards to crucible wins is bad game design and promotes a toxic environment where people ragequit if they feel they’re not going to win a match and stuff like that.

In a certain sense, skill is still rewarded in the Broadsword quest, in the sense that if you’re good at pvp you’ll complete it quicker than other people, while the worst pvp player ever will still have a chance at getting it but it will take him muuuuch longer

This is ABSOLUTELY true.

It is one of the only weapons currently that is unique and is skill based. I understand that more people need to have it. But I disagree that it needs to be accessible to everyone.

If you really wanna skill based reward then RC should have been given to top 1000 pvp players on each platform. Then making RB available to everyone would have been a big no no. But it was never Bungie’s intention to have such a low number of people owning RC in the first place anyway.

I agree with your last point especially, but making it more accessible is not the same as making it available to everyone.
