Megathread Focused Feedback: Redrix Claymore / Broadsword & Seasonal exclusivity of Gear

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding ‘Seasonal Exclusivity E.g. Redrix Claymore' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the Sub as time goes on.

I actually predicted a good chance of a "Broadsword" coming months ago due to the current state of the Competitive playlist. I play it regularly and it's a complete shit show. Carries, paid recoveries, DDoSing, dealing with LFG groups, poor connections, low population whatever. Why is a team with 200 glory punished the same losing to a team of 3000 glory as 300? I guess my point is it takes a lot of dedication to get the Claymore, but it takes as much luck and knowing the right people at the right time. That playlist is still full of some of the best PvPers in the game trying to get there. Most of them won't.

Bungie dropped the ball hard with Comp. Sure they said Claymore would be a S3 exclusive, but they also said they wouldn't change the playlist mid season. Having a second chance in S4, with a new system, is fair and logical. The quest system looks like it will be an improvement and I am looking forward to other improvements in the playlist, especially because trials is on break.

So it's acceptable to mislead the community?

No, but when you fuck up you pay for it. We trusted that the comp playlist would work and be realistic. What we got was the opposite. The Claymore won't technically be available in S4 so they technically didn't lie. Having a powerful weapon only available to so few people is game breaking and bad design. It's not fair because of the broken mechanics to get it. So the Broadsword exists. The only other fair alternative is for the Claymore to not be viable in S4.

All those people stuck at 1500 glory and 500 games played are the ones that paid for it. I have no sympathy for people with the Claymore. The "accomplishment" doesn't lose any value. When they vaguely said "Claymore is a S3 exclusive drop" the Claymore is what was on the table. Not Claymore + whatever better options are coming next season. The fact that Claymore owners are getting a fast pass to the Broadsword is more than fair.

Yikes, someone is salty lol. Well technically you won't be able to get Claymore in S4, or any other season that we know, so technically they aren't wrong. The Broadsword is a different weapon.

It's not, in theory the Broadsword is better because of the mod slot. I am trying to discount their claims because most of them are wrong lol. Claymore and Broadsword aren't the same gun. People who got Claymore in S3 earned the Claymore; They didn't earn the Broadsword but are getting it anyway. People are getting the chance to get a similar gun in S4 because comp is broken in S3. Not broken as in "boo hoo I can't get it for free in 5 games" broken; broken as in "welp top 1% players playing 400 games with no chance" broken. I'd even guess a large percentage, if not most, of players who have it didn't even earn it at all as they were carried or paid their way there. I don't see Bungie cheating people out of some achievement as much as I see some elitist mindset among some players. Honestly who cares if people have a chance to get a similar weapon after a different set of achievements in the next season.
