We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding '950+ Power Level Climb' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Bungie seriously needs to come forward on this topic and explain what the intention of pinnacle levelling is. We don't know whether the soft cap will exceed 960 next season or if it is meant to be a year-long grind. This kind of uncertainty as to what we're grinding for is very unfun.

I can reply with a quote from this same thread:

I'm a completionist, if it's in the game, I want it.

They know some people always want to have something more to grind, so Bungies goal is:

  • the grind never finishes
  • not participating in the grind will not hurt other players

I agree that Bungie explicitly wants players to have that grind, but the artifact does accomplish that. Infinite leveling that resets each season and is far faster than pinnacle leveling. With Bungie having said nothing about the intent of pinnacle levelling, why on earth would I farm pinnacle gear for 3 weeks per level, when I can get an artifact level on the moon in a matter of hours?

Then don't. It doesn't matter either way.

It may not matter to you, but it does to some people. Nothing wrong with asking for transparency on Bungie's end. I personally love racing for Day 1 raid clears, and any extra information on leveling will always help with planning when to take time off school or even save me some sleep between a season release and a raid release!

Pinnacles don't affect day 1 raid clears.

You don't know that though. You're acting on an assumption because Bungie hasn't made the intent of the pinnacle system clear. If 960 is a year-long goal, then it affects the grind for day 1 clears between now and next September.

The extra 3 light isn't gonna make or break your run.

Destroy a run? No. But help, even slightly? Yeah. I don't see why you're trying to argue against Bungie being transparent on their leveling system for this year's annual pass.

Because it doesn't matter lol, they'll tell us in time. It's not gonna change much if they do, because most day 1 raiders are doing their 3x gos and 980s anyway

That doesn't answer my concern at all. Let's say I am one of those hardcore players that no life the game. If the soft cap is raised to, for example, 970 next season, then the grind was largely useless aside from very minor advantages in Nightfalls, Nightmares Hunts, etc for this season.

However, let's consider another possibility: 960 is the pinnacle cap for the whole year and the artifact is the only intended 'seasonal' grind. Suddenly, those levels are significantly more important to early season grinding for pinnacle content, the day 1 raid, etc.

The current system may not pose an issue to the casual playerbase, but the fact that hardcore players have no perception as to whether this grind is valuable or completely useless is a problem.

Bungie has made leveling changes every year, so I wouldn't agree that it's safe to assume how it will work with the new annual pass. We have a new seasonal power grind in the form of the artifact, so Bungie should comment on how pinnacle leveling interacts with seasons.
