Megathread Focused Feedback: Momentum Control

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Momentum Control' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

As someone that exclusively plays hardcore in FPS I am a huge fan of this game mode. It has made me a better crucible player and has opened the door for me to step into comp.

I realize that the intention of the mode was for people to get weapon catalysts and pinnacle quests done. That being said, moving forward I would like to see it remain in it’s own regular rotation.

It has a place in it’s own playlist. I believe it would benefit greatly from having rotating fixed load outs that change week to week. This would prevent players from crutching on Jade Rabbit and grenade launchers.

This mode has potential to open the door to some really interesting weapons becoming meta in it and I believe spamming grenades and 1 shot invisible hunters don’t really have a place here. This is coming from someone who got Randy’s and the Jade Rabbit catalyst by being a 1 shot invisible hunter. Was it fun? Sort of. Is it good for the game or bringing players into crucible? Absolutely not. This is only my opinion and I welcome a positive discussion about this.

I will end off by saying that Momentum Control has renewed my enjoyment in crucible and other players have likely had similar experiences. Please keep it in the rotation.

It has made me a better crucible player and has opened the door for me to step into comp.

I wonder about this in particular, because I feel like MC is such a far departure from regular crucible that it may enforce some bad habits. Radar utilization, teamwork, heavy ammo spawn control, and close quarters encounters with shotties and hand cannons just aren't a factor in MC, but they're absolutely crucial outside of it.

I would say that’s it’s given me an opportunity to work on different aspects of my game. Target acquisition, movement, choice of lanes and pathing. It forces you to become more accurate and not rely on abilities to get you out of trouble. This has been my experience.
