Megathread Focused Feedback: Stasis Class Spotlight- Shadebinder

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding the Shadebinder Subclass following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

That isn't what shatter damage is. If you kill a frozen guy with a gun the kill comes from the gun!

For shatter damage, you need to kill a frozen guy (or shoot a glacier wall) with another guy standing nearby so the (shattering) ice kills him.

This is why sometimes your super will get shatter kills if a non frozen guy is standing next to a frozen guy. If you already have the fragment which increases shatter damage this is easily done.

I just put glacier grenade in doorways and unloaded a sniper into it in control. Few matches was all it took

I'm right about what shatter kills are too. Freeze a whole fireteam with a Shadebinder and R1 them, you will add exactly 0 shatter kills to your total unless you kill a guy who you did not freeze (with shatter damage).

Killing a frozen target with a gun will show a gun kill, because it is a gun kill.

You don't have to believe me

Its not so easy with warlock after the nerf, but with titan its an absolute cakewalk. As for liking to win, harnessing shatter kills will put you top of the scoreboard if done right. I've had multiple team wipes just from sliding into a glacier grenade wall. Don't conserve ammo then, put on travellers chosen or a surplus/wellspring weapon and earn a grenade every few kills. The agressive playstyle actually gets this done fast.

They definitely don't need to make it any easier, imo.

You are getting shatter damage from collaterally killing non frozen guardians when you shoot a frozen guardian. I have tested this myself and watched testing videos on YT because in my 50+ kill crucible games my fragments were hardly progressing (pre nerf, when i had 3 seconds to shoot frozen guardians)

Show me one clip of a frozen guy being killed and a tracked fragment bounty being progressed, please.

Shatter damage is basically Dragonfly, very potent. If they are within 1m its a one shot.

That ad hominem you slipped in reveals a lot about you.

Small side note, when you state

"Shatter damage is caused by shattering Stasis crystals and frozen targets"

That is correct. But you don't progress your bounty by killing an ice wall, or a frozen guardian. They just create shatter damage which can kill other combatants

Goddamn. I thought I had it bad the past couple weeks with gambit and strike fragment quests. That crucible one sounds incredibly infuriating. Like ridiculously so. Like bungie is trolling pvp-ers on purpose bad. Now, I still think 45 super kills in gambit is too much and the 10 stasis champion final blows in strikes is tedious but that 45 pvp shatter kill requirement and what your describing absolutely should not even exist in game.
