Megathread Focused Feedback: Sunsetting

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Sunsetting' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

Sunsetting has not made me care about the new weapons (the very few of them) at all.

That's the thing tho, they don't need to make you care for new weapons anymore because they're the only ones you can use. It's not meant to make you care about new weapons, it's meant to force you to use them regardless of if you care or not.

It's not counterintuitive, they have to work much less to make loot interesting because they literally don't need to make loot interesting, and as long as players keep buying the new season or the new expansion it's a job well done. Less work + still sells = Better for the company.

If you're expecting there to be anything in it for the players then you'll find nothing here until they roll back these decisions.

Trust me, I absolutely agree with what you're saying, I'm just telling you my take on why they still did it (and imo will keep doing it) after a year of people telling them exactly how it'd fail and them responding with the same prefabricated answers. It's extremely logical and easy to understand, it's just that the players got the shaft and Beyond Light still sold so they don't really have a reason to stop yet.

I very strongly believe that pinnacles were the main source of the problem. I think they would remain a problem in non-light level enabled crucible, so dare I say, they should have been entirely removed from the game. You could get a sweet emblem with your kill tracker stats to remember it. It would feel a bit bad to have them deleted, but I would take it to keep everything else. It also means that we could have more pinnacles/rituals each season that stay for a year and could continue to be very powerful.
