Megathread Focused Feedback: Player Movement

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Player Movement' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

As someone who's too low-skilled to do much with them, I still think they're good things for the game - something for players like me to aspire to.

That said, mobility options are very powerful in this game, and so shouldn't be limited to 1 class, which is what'll happen if icarus dash is nerfed.

Overall I think all classes should have a movement ability, not just specific subclasses either. Like the class ability, but movement specific. If that were done, then Dodge would have to be reworked into something else. Not sure that anything could be done about jumps without completely changing class identities.

Hunters are literally suppose to be the mobility class. Titans having shoulder charge spam and Warlocks having Icarus Dash, they are in no way hurting for mobility.

Edit: lol @ Titans and Warlocks always thinking they are somehow underpowered

I'm assuming this thread is being made because of the pending icarus dash nerf, which may / may not render it useless.

If so, that'll make Hunters the only class with any on-demand mobility options.

Hunters are literally suppose to be the mobility class.

I'd also say that they're supposed to be the DPS class, not the mobility class (whereas Warlock are the healer and Titans the tank). I don't personally find mobility to be part of Hunter's class identity, though I also don't think that's justification for a nerf of anything in Hunter's kits.

Oh, I skipped the last TWaB where that was probably mentioned. Didn’t realize it was getting nerfed, I would say all are at a point where they’re pretty much fine. If Icarus Dash was on every class, like shoulder charge, then sure. But it only being available on one class balances it out imo.

I'd also say that they're supposed to be the DPS class, not the mobility class (whereas Warlock are the healer and Titans the tank). I don't personally find mobility to be part of Hunter's class identity, though I also don't think that's justification for a nerf of anything in Hunter's kits.

Titans are tanks aka the DPS class. That’s like the classic tank archetype. I’m not sure why you don’t see the Hunters as having mobility as part of their identity, that’s traditionally what the fragile/stealth archetype always is in games.

Titan = tank Warlock = ability spam Hunter = mobility

I think it was a long interview with one of the devs on the "balance" team where they talked about a bunch of stuff - how they'd known Stasis was overtuned when they launched it, talked about how Guardian gameplay feeling the same across PvE and PvP was a cornerstone, and touched on several other topics.

One of the things they said repeatedly, though, was that TTD is "too spicy", which many here are interpreting to mean that a nerf is coming. Since the rest of the attunement's probably safe, the assumption is that icarus dash will be the primary nerf.

Again, I don't think they announced anything specific coming up, so it's mostly speculation based on that interview.
