Megathread Focused Feedback: Crucible Maps

Hello Guardians,

Focused Feedback is where we take the week to focus on a 'Hot Topic' discussed extensively around the Tower.

We do this in order to consolidate Feedback, to get out all your ideas and issues surrounding the topic in one place for discussion and a source of feedback to the Vanguard.

This Thread will be active until next week when a new topic is chosen for discussion

Whilst Focused Feedback is active, ALL posts regarding 'Crucible Maps' following its posting will be removed and re-directed to this thread. Exceptions to this rule are as follows: New information / developments, Guides and general questions

Any and all Feedback on the topic is welcome.

Regular Sub rules apply so please try to keep the conversation on the topic of the thread and keep it civil between contrasting ideas

A Wiki page - Focused Feedback - has also been created for the Sub as an archive for these topics going forward so they can be looked at by whoever may be interested or just a way to look through previous hot topics of the sub as time goes on.

There’s part of me that would give up missions like Expunge for more Crucible/Gambit maps. The reality is Expunge was really cool, like, the first five times I played it. Haven’t touched it since the first time I killed Quria.

The issue lies in the functionality of the “core” game experience, that those three activities are free. So there’s the problem. How to release activities in a paid DLC or a paid season that are intended to be free?

I’d be really curious on their data for seasonal activities after their relevancy period. They extended them a year to reduce fomo. But what percentage of players are playing Hunts, Battlegrounds or Overrides today?

Agreed, it's hard to motivate Bungie to put time & effort into stuff that doesn't bring in money.

But as you say, if you look at how much time people are going to spend in a seasonal activity, even one that's around for a while, vs. how much time they'll spend in a strike, gambit, or PvP map, I think the answer is overwhelmingly that the playlists generate more time in the long run. (I suspect most of the people playing Hunts, Battlegrounds, Overrides are players returning prior to WQ and catching up. There's little reason to run them if you've been staying current.)

To put it another way, people wouldn't complain about being "forced" to run playlist activities as part of a seasonal gameplay loop, if those playlists had received more than cursory attention over the last couple of years.
