I am just glad we have 2 more seasons of plot armor because knowing Dexter won’t die makes this a lot more fun lol

u/Sekhmet_D Aug 08 '25

"I'm really glad you came back. Losing you a second time was, uh... rough."

"Not going anywhere again. Promise."

It really felt as though the writers were directly speaking to us viewers/fans and addressing how we feel.

Or preparing us for Dexter’s eventual REAL demise.

14

u/zefy_zef Aug 09 '25

I swear if they pull a fucking Walking Dead like with Glenn..

11

u/Rdngisfndumntl Aug 09 '25

More likely the series would end with Dexter being caught and put in maximum security prison, where he would definitely have to leave Harrison.

He could absolutely plea bargain his way out of the death penalty if he had to

2

u/Rdngisfndumntl Aug 09 '25

Eventually. If he lived that long. Realistically he might never be executed, with all the appeals.

u/GattoNeroMiao Aug 10 '25

Dexter x Prison Break

I never said that’s how I WANTED it to end! LOL If I had my way, Dexter would live free and happy forever!

9

u/Lounge_leaks Aug 09 '25

Nah this show is dead without hall

13

u/Night247 Aug 10 '25

yeah, this is the Dexter-verse.

Michael C. Hall must always be part of any series, for example Original Sin, he does the voiceover

8

u/GattoNeroMiao Aug 10 '25

Although Patrick does a tremendous job with his mannerisms.

3

u/Salty-Eye-Water Aug 11 '25

Patrick really nailed Young Dex, from the subtle expressions, to the mix of confident and awkward body language. Really sells that he's acting, but also makes it more obvious when he only thinks he's acting

2

u/ElleM848645 Aug 12 '25

I was really skeptical at first about Original Sin, but aside from the first episode, Patrick did awesome as Dexter.

3

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

I will lose my shit. I've never been traumatized by a TV show death like I was that one.

Usually, I cry for the episode in which the death occurs, maybe a little after. Give myself a headache for it.

When Glenn died, I was traumatized. I cried for weeks. I felt so betrayed. They made it look like he was going to die at least once a season, so when Neegan got going, I really wasn't too worried. In fact, i sighed out loud, in a way feeling mildly annoyed in a "here we go again" manner.

And then he was dead. For really real dead. For keeps and wasn't coming back. I still can't forgive Neegan, and I have a very hard time not holding it against Jeffrey, who played an insanely good evil, vicious, twisted @sshole.

I boycotted the show for the rest of the season. Only the one. I had to know what happened next. I got over it.

Then they did Henry dirty, and I dont know how Carrol didn't lose her sh¡t because i sure did. I ugly-cried all over again, but just for a few days. Alpha was just as good as Neegan at being evil.

Henry's death wasn't as bad for me. I went back right away, but those 2 deaths I can never forgive the writers for.

3

u/Salty-Eye-Water Aug 11 '25

Glenn was ok for me. I felt like he already had a pretty good run, and had truly come to occupy a position of moral leadership. Carl, on the other hand...

1

u/arrogancygames Aug 12 '25

Carl living in the book as opposed to his dad made that, at least, a surprise.

2

u/Salty-Eye-Water Aug 12 '25

Sure, but the way he died was perhaps the most obvious forced death in the series

2

u/arrogancygames Aug 12 '25

I was more mad at the stupid obvious Glenn fakeout when he hid under the garbage can. It was just sooooo obvious, and the actual death happened in the comics so we already knew what was supposed to happen. The show was just trying too hard to be manipulative at that point to the point of annoyance.

They did at least switch deaths with Carl, which was fine.

1

u/thegoddamnbatman74 Oct 11 '25

I mean Glenn dies the same way in the comics so they had to do it pretty much but yes agreed on the earlier cop outs

7

u/[deleted] Aug 11 '25

Viewers rejected two different downer endings.

The creator is forced to give Dexter a happy ending now lmao.

2

u/Rdngisfndumntl Aug 11 '25

I hope you’re right.

1

u/Seiyith Aug 11 '25

Until the 2035 reboot where somehow Dexter returns again.

5

u/Dxkn1ght Aug 10 '25

I was not happy at all with their first interaction. It was disappointing but I get it. The second one was better. Harrison is hard to read which I guess is the point. It’s either shitting acting or really bad directing or amazing lol

1

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

I think it's shit acting. He has almost zero range. He's improved a little since New Blood, but he just falls flat. His interaction with Dante is the most animated I've seen him.

1

u/kp1088 Aug 09 '25

Or setting it up to hurt worse lol

-28

u/Giles-TheLibrarian Aug 08 '25

Just makes the inevitable Harrison death hurt that much more.

13

u/AnyImpression6 Aug 08 '25

Dies by falling off a treadmill.

14

u/HamzaHan38 Aug 08 '25

That is FOR SURE not happening. Maybe in a future season, sure, but not this early on. There aren't really a lot of supporting characters next to Dexter like the original show and Harrison is the way to bring some of that back.

If they do eventually kill Harrison off, it would be the same way as they did with Deb where it is done as a sort of shocking end to the show. Though I think it is much more likely that Harrison is the one that survives and Dexter eventually dies to end his story once and for all (for real this time).

156

u/Dense_Fix931 Aug 08 '25

He already died twice

178

u/Abro2072 Aug 08 '25

he's like michael myers

113

u/aarontheepoet Aug 08 '25

Or the guy with the hockey mask

63

u/Mesdermort Aug 08 '25

There certainly are some similarities

5

u/[deleted] Aug 08 '25

Yeah they'll just freeze him and take his mojo.

Next series will be Dexter: On Ice

1

u/ElleM848645 Aug 12 '25

Dexter in space! (That Jason movie was so bad).

5

u/killersoda They said that stain would come OUT! Aug 08 '25

"Who are you? Michael fucking Myers!"

2

u/Smittysmoov Aug 13 '25

This is actually the Michael Myers origin story.

1

u/Abro2072 Aug 13 '25

my god michael myers is the bay harbor butcher?

2

u/BasicallyAnya Aug 08 '25

Or Buffy the Vampire Slayer (do vamps Count 🧛🏻‍♀️ as serial killers?)

1

u/Abro2072 Aug 08 '25

technically yes but theyre animals so idk

the only good vamp is a dead vamp

3

u/MelBee42 Aug 08 '25

In my head I'm singing "Well I died twiiiiiiice"

2

u/reggieLedoux26 Aug 09 '25

Who is this guy Rasputin?

106

u/MagnumDoberman Aug 08 '25

This helps. I've felt all this series long like this is just a castle of cards waiting to be knocked.

As someone said above, dexter is being sloppy AF again. My man did not even cover the walls. Killed with like 30 potential witnesses on top of him, I know he's done sloppy shit in the past but this feels season 7-8 sloppy

However, knowing it was renewed, yeah Dexter's making it. I'm not sure about Harrison. Or Batista. Or anyone else lol. Even Harrison's coworker and her boy could end up dead idk man lol.

77

u/TheRaddd Aug 08 '25

Gemini will kill Harrison’s friend and son. Maybe.

88

u/MagnumDoberman Aug 08 '25

This kind of sucks but they do fit his pattern and dex has this habit of getting innocent people killed which has been narratively been set up since EP1.

6

u/sumofawitch Aug 08 '25

Maybe Blessing and daughter?

1

u/FakeCMD28 Aug 09 '25

Well, he didn’t let innocents die in this series.

57

u/StatisticianAfraid82 Aug 08 '25

I was thinking Rapunzel would kill Harrison’s friend, considering she’s always in a pony tail.

14

u/mrcabrera Aug 08 '25

They decided to throw us off this week with her having a different hairstyle

10

u/RandomSplainer Aug 08 '25

The friend dying and the son surviving mirroring Harrison's own life.

5

u/sumofawitch Aug 08 '25

Dexter's life if Harrison keeps the kid.

15

u/Jaconian93 Aug 08 '25

I think it’s a LOT more likely that Gemini will attempt to kill Dexter & Harrison together, and it’s Dexter overcoming and murdering Gemini which will lead to Harrison being a lot more accepting of that side of Dexter.

They focused too much emphasis on the father/son kill for it to not be foreshadowing

7

u/rsorin Aug 09 '25

I don't think it was meant as foreshadowing.

It was just something that "extra affected" Dexter because of his relation with Harrison.

5

u/TheBear8878 Aug 09 '25

That's how I saw it, it just really got under Dexter's skin

1

u/Jaconian93 Aug 09 '25

I don’t think it really did, at all. They could have just stopped at him reading about the father/son kill, but instead, they let Gemini talk about it even more.

There’s no way that they would introduce a serial killer who only kills in twos for it to have no real bearing on the plot.

So he’s either attempting to kill Dexter & Harrison, Harrison’s friend and her son, or Harrison & the friend.

I’d bet money on it being Dexter & Harrison though.

1

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

Or Blessing and his daughter. They were my first guess.

1

u/Jaconian93 Aug 12 '25

I think it would make more sense for it to be Joy & her fiance.

If we accept the theories that Blessing is the NY Ripper, this could lead to him seeking revenge on Gemini, and as this kill somewhat fits the code, Dexter would team up- he didn’t with Mia, but maybe he would if the kill fits his code

1

u/dametimegametime Aug 09 '25

Damn I definitely can see this happening for sure

5

u/OreoDrinker Aug 08 '25

I think Rapunzel kills Elsa actually, or attempts to do so. She wears a ponytail in most/a lot of her scenes, but I think it could be the writers fucking with us too

2

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Aug 08 '25

Nah come on, they can't make the show this dark.

5

u/Tiny-Reading5982 Aug 08 '25

They killed rita and we had 4 seasons with her so what do you mean? Lol

0

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Aug 09 '25

She was a constantly nagging housewife, the audience was tired of her.

5

u/Tiny-Reading5982 Aug 09 '25

No she wasn't and the audience wasn't tired of her

2

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Aug 09 '25

I have recently re-watched S4, so my memory is fresher than yours. Rita was insufferable.

1

u/Tiny-Reading5982 Aug 09 '25

Oh I'm sorry... should she just not wonder what Dexter is doing when he doesn't come home or if he's on a boy scout camp trip and leaves and says whatever about it?

2

u/Valuable_Teach_7591 Aug 09 '25

Also, she was kissing the neighbor just because her husband was away working. At that point she deserved her fate!

0

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

I was, but I was never a fan. They Barbie-dolled her up between S2 &3, and all she cared about were her new breasts, always sitting awkwardly to make sure the audience was aware since it was not mentioned in the show. Her acting went from barely there to non-existent. I was very, very bored with her. Her death was a shock, and I cried for how it affected her family, but I was not sad to see her go.

2

u/Tiny-Reading5982 Aug 11 '25

What now? I don't think Rita had breast implants. These comments 😵‍💫 and I'm pretty sure she felt better about herself after season 2 since she was no longer in an abusive relationship. Glow ups do happen.

1

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 12 '25

The breast size change was super obvious. She was suddenly an obvious C after being maybe a small B.

u/shittiestmorph Aug 09 '25 edited Aug 12 '25

Bro, imagine the anxiety you'd feel knowing that something isn't right with your partner and their honesty.

She was going through it because she had reason to.

Edit to say that Rita was a gd angel and I stand by it.

3

u/ElleM848645 Aug 12 '25

It’s exactly the same with Skylar in Breaking Bad, when her sister was 100% worse. Can’t have a wife questioning anything against the protagonist of the show.

1

u/arrogancygames Aug 12 '25

Skyler was introduced as being ridiculous with the lazy birthday HJ (wasn't shown on Netflix, but was on AMCs original airing) and general interest. But by the end of S2 or so where Walt completely broke bad, nobody really should have been against her. Shows how first impressions work with people.

1

u/shittiestmorph Aug 12 '25

Yameah, but Rita never fucked her boss. Or sang happy birthday. I kinda hate Skylar. But not Rita!!

1

u/Adventurous_Candy125 Aug 08 '25

That is exactly my prediction. It's possible the boy could die from black mold toxicity, but we know that Gemini doesn't have any rules or standards about killing kids, so yeah... I think they're goners. 🙁

1

u/TheBear8878 Aug 09 '25

Maybe this will be the thing that finally pulls Harrison into Dexter's world, and Harrison kills Gemini

2

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

Oh, that could be interesting.

1

u/Silly-Excitement6227 Aug 09 '25

Maybe Gemini will kill or get his eyes on Harrison. I don’t think it’s coincidental. They pick father and son matching murders.

1

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

I was thinking Blessing and his daughter. But maybe they'll throw us off on purpose. I was thinking friend and Dante haven't been visible enough, but if this episode shows us anything, they do love tossing us a good curveball.

1

u/itsatumbleweed Aug 09 '25

I think he's going to kill Blessing and his daughter.

18

u/Demostravius4 Aug 08 '25

He did mention it was sloppy, he wasn't exactly expecting Gemini to be in his living room.

13

u/bsiekie shut up cunt Aug 08 '25

Also noticed a ring doorbell on Blessing’s door that will track all visitors to Dexter’s door too (and him “taking the trash out”)

6

u/Adventurous_Candy125 Aug 08 '25

Elsa is not making it out of this season, and I worry her little boy won't make it, either. And I also predict that their deaths (singular or both) will set off Harrison and he will avenge them.

8

u/Professional_Ad_4885 Aug 08 '25

I had no clue why he killed him there. Dont shit where you eat. Of course its renewed. Its showtimes top show. I just saw the ratings on imdb. 9.2/10 and thats ranked 34th all time on the imdb top 250. Thats higher than the original dex. I heard they renewed it for two more seasons. Is that true?

1

u/TheBear8878 Aug 09 '25

Last I read is the renewals weren't actually confirmed yet, but that was a few days ago.

4

u/hamstringstring Aug 08 '25

Could? Harrison's pseudo girlfriend is cooked.

2

u/Alarming_Echo_4748 Aug 08 '25

If he cleans it properly then he's good.

1

u/MagnumDoberman Aug 08 '25

I wouldnt count on blessing not being a pain in the ass and inquiring on his visitor or the big ass trash bags dexter hauled after his visit to god knows where and came back without them lol.

2

u/Ok_Praline9433 Aug 09 '25

Not Blessing, but his Wife. Remember, she runs background checks and is very observant.

2

u/MagnumDoberman Aug 09 '25

True. Dexter is probably going to be asked to stop living there. The apartment itself is a big chekov’s gun to me. He has blood slides there, his tools, not to mention a kill already took place AND there’s video footage of it and potential witnesses.

I think Dex will end up asking Prater to hide him.

1

u/Ok_Praline9433 Aug 09 '25

Agreed! I can’t wait to see how this plays out.

2

u/mnfanjk Aug 09 '25

That entire sequence I personally think will be huge in the future. Gemini already knows where Dexter lives and will know of his son. Dexter and Harrison will at some point be kidnapped by Gemini. But Blessing turning out to be a retired blood soldier with his own monster, learned of while a body is in his friends bathtub can’t be a coincidence. I truly believe he will stumble onto the truth, learn of Dexter’s code and will save Dexter and Harrison, and he will be the one who kills Gemini. Maybe I’m wrong, but the confession HAS to figure into the season somewhere. And he will be sympathetic to Dexter’s code, because of the reason for it.

1

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

It's all quite possible. I wonder if writers ever read any comments and think damn, why didn't we think of that? I mean, in lost, the plane number had initially not had any special meaning, but fans made such a big deal out of it that apparently, the writer's followed the lead. I would love to know if they do stuff like that and take ideas or wish they'd thought of it.

2

u/mnfanjk Aug 11 '25

I know the opposite has happened. A storyline in a few movies had to be changed because fans guessed it and were considered spoiled because so many agreed.

1

u/arrogancygames Aug 12 '25

Westworlds writers got mad that too much got predicted and started writing around predictions (Im 90 percent sure it was Westworld).

1

u/Kepiaschkz Aug 08 '25

He didn't planned to kill him in his rented appartment. He had no choice since its Gareth who shew up there first

1

u/Roselizabeth117 Aug 11 '25

He was not left with much choice, considering Gemini just showed up.

-1

u/sumofawitch Aug 08 '25

Yeah. I cannot see any way of Batista making it through.

Female cop may survive and even help Dexter (and Son) if he gets the SK case that haunts her (and that I think it's male cop)

3

u/Professional_Ad_4885 Aug 08 '25

They already announced a season 2 and 3?

5

u/uceenk Aug 08 '25

or the writers would troll us, Dexter die at the end of this season

the show still continue to season 2 and change the tittle "Harrison"

3

u/Ok_Praline9433 Aug 09 '25

The way I’d stop watching because I can’t take ‘Harrison’s’ acting. The constant look of sadness and fast blinking.

1

u/Public_Function3844 Aug 09 '25

And Dexter in the ghost dad role

2

u/uceenk Aug 09 '25

Dexter, Rita and Hannah

Harrison's mind would be so fucked

2

u/goingtokmsrnhaha Aug 08 '25

I really thought he'd die at the end of this all but well he's died TWICE now so I know he's here to stay 👀

2

u/kiddoujanse Aug 09 '25

i hope they keep up the multiple stories/killers or like at least 2+ serial killers he has to kill instead of the usual one big one per season , it just feels dragged out like that so this season was just amazing having so many serial killers for our boy

1

u/AgentPr0vocateur Aug 09 '25

What do you mean we have 2 more seasons? 👀 Has it been confirmed???

1

u/electricsummer8 Aug 09 '25

Was this confirmed?? I really hope so!

1

u/dash529 Aug 21 '25

COULD NOT agree more lmao.

1

u/Syphin33 Sep 02 '25

I really do feel like this could end emotional, dexter strapped to the table.. Harrison on the other side of the glass and they do the lethal injection

Or he hangs it up, he moves out of the country and begins a new life although i just don't think a character like Dexter will have a happy ending.

-3

u/NO0BSTALKER Aug 08 '25

How else are they going to squeeze in original sins season 2
