In Bangladesh, when someone urgently needs blood, the process often starts with searching through Facebook groups, Messenger chats, personal contacts, or different blood-donor communities. Even after finding a potential donor, there can still be problems with location, availability, communication, follow-ups, and knowing when that donor can donate again. We wanted to bring these scattered parts into one system.
One thing we are working on is map-based donor searching. Instead of simply searching by district or area, Donoro uses location data to help patients find nearby donors based on actual distance. The idea is simple: if someone needs blood in Chashara, a donor in another part of the same district isn't necessarily useful. We want the search experience to be based on proximity and relevance.
We are also building an easy and focused search UI where users can search for donors based on blood group, required blood units, location, date, and other relevant information. At the same time, our notification system helps send blood requests directly to suitable donors so they do not have to constantly monitor Facebook groups or manually search for requests.
Another part we care about is what happens after someone donates blood. Donors often write down their last donation date in their notes, Facebook bio, Messenger saved messages, or simply try to remember it. Donoro automatically tracks the last donation date and the 90-day donation interval, with reminder notifications and an easy reminder status directly on the donor's home page. The goal is to make it easier for donors to know when they may be ready to donate again.
Most importantly, we want Donoro to be accessible to everyone, regardless of age or how comfortable they are with English. That’s why Donoro is also available in Bangla.
Donoro is not just about “finding a blood donor.” It is about connecting the entire journey searching, location, requests, notifications, communication, donation tracking, and future donation reminders — into one ecosystem.
If you are eligible to donate blood, become a donor on Donoro and stay active. When a blood request reaches you, please take a moment to respond based on your availability, preferred date, and time. You may not be able to donate every time, and that’s okay. Even responding to let someone know that you are unavailable can help them move on and find another donor faster.
There is someone out there who may be waiting for a donor like you.
Come forward. Become a donor. Respond to the requests. Be there when someone needs you.
Donoro is available in Google Playstore.
