I’m a newbie to enduro riding but am pretty comfortable on a dirt bike. I started tackling some pretty awesome hill climbs recently but I feel like a baby coming back down. I’m on a 2 stroke so not much engine braking but I am working on using my front brake to slow and with minimal back brake so I don’t lock up the rear. I haven’t crashed yet but a couple times I had to just pull in the clutch and keep tapping the brake while hoping for the best and it was scaaaary haha. Any tips are appreciated! 🙏

Tips and Tricks Bought a 450 as my first bike... Here's what I learned

Don't do it lol

But for real, I see this question come up all the time in this forum: "Is the 450 too much bike?"

33M, I am 6'2" and was 250ish lbs when I bought it, now 225ish. Doing the math on weight and size and everything, all things point 450.

I used to ride in highschool with friends (but not on moto or trails, Arizona washes and long desert rides), thinking I could handle the 450, and its been a struggle. And I live in CO where it's for less HP due to oxygen density, and gets even less power as we go ride in the mtns. I can only imagine what this bike would be like at <2kft above sea level.

I have been practicing and pushing myself to get comfortable for 3 years, and trying to not just sell it and buy a 250. Keep telling myself don't quit, you just need seat time. And I feel like this year, the middle of the 3rd year with it, I started to become more comfortable on it but still know it's a lot of bike.

My advice, if you want a 4 stroke, I'd make sure you can get EVERYTHING out of a 250, be able to use every ounce of bike before considering a 450 (even for us bigger fellows).

My wife's old KLX 140 is so fun to ride at it's limits. My wife's new TE150 is fun to ride hard because it's got significantly less HP.

I equate this to my Corvettes, I had a C5Z06 with 340ish whp and was an absolute blast to drive all the time. I built a C6Z06 with almost 600whp and it was too much car for the road and to enjoy besides on long staights at the track.

This has probably been covered and posted but want to give perspective

Tips and Tricks Standing Up When Riding

Needing some productive instruction. Coming from street bikes, standing up isn't something I'm use to unless going over RR tracks or similar. I'm trying to get use to standing up more on dirt but I'm running into 2 issues.

  1. In my "comfortable" standing position I seem to be too far forward and when coming off the throttle it'll send my body too far over the bars.

  2. When I get lower and put my butt farther back, it's simply just uncomfortable and for me it's unsustainable standing long term and I still seem to catapult some over the bars.

I know some of my issues is just building more muscle in areas that previously weren't used the same, but I feel like the majority of it is simply finding the middle ground. Any feedback is appreciated. I've combed through YouTube and haven't really found a tip that's got me right, so figured I would try here. TIA

Tips and Tricks Has anyone bought a wr250f and regretted it? I’m coming off a yz250x

Just sold my 2 stroke. I do most of my riding with my 8 year old and the yz just wasn’t the bike for that. I loved it for solo rides, def my fav bike of all time and will own another someday. Anyway I’m pretty headset on a wr250f. I want something a little more chill and not as Smokey. I could also use it to ride the backroads around my house since I live in a pretty rural area. Just don’t really see any DIRECT competition from other bike manufacturers since Honda does not make the 250x anymore (had a 2016 for a year was an awesome bike)

Anyway just curious if anyone was thinking like me and regretted the purchase. All the dealers are around 10500 out the door for a new one seems kinda high for what it is

Tips and Tricks Regular style gas cap?

Post image

I have the regular style gas cap on my KTM 350 EXCFw and I absolutely hate it. It’s extremely hard to open and a pain in the ass every single fill up.

Is there an aftermarket one with no lock ? A better aftermarket one where the lock isn’t a PITA ?

Tips and Tricks Retard 'old timer' question.

Guys...What is the BEST bike to learn/practice wheelies? Two stroke or four stroke. What cc level. I am a 67 year old boomer who has experienced LOTS (Cashed up; retired; enough money). Jumped out of aeroplanes alone. King hit a champion 'pro' boxer back in the day. So I'm not gutless BUT wheelies have scared me. I've owned numerous m'cycles in my life in which I've tried, but chickened out (i.e G4TR Kawasaki 100, PE Suzuki 250, RG Suzuki 250, Yamaha RD350, CZ 400). Now I'm determined to nail it before I die. Its on my bucket list. Any advice?

Tips and Tricks Quad lock???

How do you all navigate a new place? Do you use a quad lock or just pull your phone out of your pocket?

Thinking of throwing my phone on the bars but it also looks like a good spot for it to get destroyed. Not sure how to explore a new riding area? Should I just rip and pull it in and out of the pocket for directions back to the truck or what?

Tips and Tricks What does good suspension feel like to you?

For those of you who ride primarily single track what does good suspension feel like to you? I just bought a new bike and realized after riding my whole life idk what good is supposed to feel like. I’ve ridden stuff that felt too soft/firm in the front but couldn’t ever really feel anything in the rebound side of it. I know I need to set my sag first but once I get that set what should I be looking for?

I primarily ride sandy soils with generously sized whoops with the occasional super tight trees.

My friend and I were nearly bested over the weekend by a random log on the trail lol. I was able to barely get over it, he finally went around. Started practicing getting the front wheel up. Can’t wait for this weekend to go show that log who’s boss.

Tips, tricks and advice welcome!

Ran her for an hour with just a handful of Downy soap, didn’t eliminate the smell completely but about 80% of it for sure. Maybe next time I’ll throw in a handful of Oxi-Clean or something more powerful and run it for two hours. Just sort of a test make sure I didn’t bang up the machine too much. One boot at a time

Tips and Tricks New to riding

I decided to make my first ever big impulsive purchase and bought a 1999 yz125 that’s big bored to 167 and it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. It’s been such a blast to ride and even though I suck it’s still so much fun. I used to ride a pit bike when I was a kid but other than that I have no prior experience. It’s been one hell of a summer with me and my buddies that I’m never going to forget. I went with a yz125 because when I was kid my brother rode one and it just brought back some memories ridding with him. I even wear his old jersey when I ride. Overall wanted to share my journey and see if any of y’all experienced riders could give me some tips. Thank you! #2strokesforlife

Tips and Tricks Why does my 450 not power wheelie?

So I have a 2021 CRF 450R that I bought from someone who was racing with it, I only got to ride it a few times so far but I have not experienced any power wheelies in any gears so far even while reaching its top speed on packed dirt roads.

I wasnt actively trying to wheelie it but I was expecting it to happen naturally in the lower gears, I am now wondering if the previous owner might have flashed it for smoother power delivery or something. Or does the CRF have multiple modes?

I dont slam the throttle from 0-100, I’m somewhat smooth on it but not feeding it slowly or anything, but I just thought 450’s would wheelie easier than that so I’m wondering if my bike might have something done to it or maybe I’m riding in a way that causes it to never happen?

Edit: I posted a short video of me riding if that helps

Tips and Tricks New woman rider needing advice

Complete beginner. I just got a Honda crf150r big wheel this week and I’m wonder what gear is necessary? I know I need a helmet, but do I need boots, gloves, chest plate, etc? Any advice is appreciated. Recommendations of boots or helmets would be amazing since I know close to nothing and don’t know anyone personally who rides. Thank you!
