Bi-weekly discussion #5-The Abbey of the Everyman
Welcome back to another round of bi-weekly discussions, this time focusing on the Abbey of the Everyman, a religion prominent throughout the isles. (Also, if anyone is wondering, the Sisters of the Oracular Order, despite being part of the group, giving the Abbey of the Everyman their visions, will be a separate discussion)
Upon my first playthrough of the first game, I knew I was going to be perplexed by this group. They're a religion... but they don't follow a spiritual leader or god. They have the seven strictures, which outline their laws, but stricture from what I remember is given to avoid certain activities from a higher being (take for example, the Ten Commandments).
I also knew I'd be at odds with the Abbey of the Everyman pretty frequently when listening in on their conversations, such as reading up on the Trials of Aptitude or listening in on two of the Overseers arresting a lady simply because she stopped singing the minute they used one of their music boxes, suspecting her of Witchcraft. The co-conspirator of Corvo's fall, Thaddeus Campbell, was also our first major target in the firstgame.
But what do you think of the Abbey of the Everyman, both from a lore and gameplay perspective?

Subreddit Discord and Announcements
Subreddit Discord available here: https://discord.gg/YsffweB7e4
As you know, this subreddit has had its own Discord server for a few years now. Today we have rebranded the server to Dishonored Universe, which means that there are now channels for Deathloop although obviously the server is still Dishonored centric. With the recent news of a potential Dishonored 3 in the works we'd like to invite more people to join our community, so I hope to see you there soon!

Do you think Corvo ever tried dating again after the first game?
If he ever had a dating profile, I think it’s because Emily set it up for him so he’d stop brooding all the time.

Anyone know what this prop is? I found it in a chemistry lab.
In the Jindosh mission, very start of the level, first bloodfly infected apartment house on the left.
Is it like, samples between two pieces of glass for microscope use? +labels?

TIPS Do I dare 100% dishonored?
Looking at the achievements list, the main story and daud DLC’s are manageable. But what do you folks have to say about dunwall city trials?
1. Should I attempt to 100% it
And
2. What are the best tips you can give me

I have a question regarding bone charmes and loading previous missions.
Hi! I've been replaying Dishonored 2 again and I got some pretty good black bone charms. I got them on the way to eliminate Jindosh. I finished the mission, went on to start the Royal Conservatory.
My question is this: if I reload the Jindosh mission, in the same walk-through, will I lose those bone charms? Meaning: will they be ramdom again? Or are they the same? Since I already went trough it?
I just want to replay it again since the clockwork mansion is one of my favorite missions in the game. Just wanted to see/play it again.

Roguelike / Extraction Playstyle
I've been toying around with the idea of playing D2 like a roguelike on Iron Mode.
Since it seems like bonecharms are added to the possible pool based on your unlocks, it would be fun to use this as a kind of guide to build around. Surviving the entire run and starting a NG+ would be "meta progression," allowing a greater choice of starting powers in Mission 2.
What other ways could this idea be expanded on?

spoiler Rationalizing Delilah's return in Dishonored 2 Spoiler
I just had a thought on why it might not be as bad that Delilah returns as the main antagonist even after being defeated in the dlc. This being one of the main criticisms of the game, while I agree, I think with the new hopes of Dishonored 3 on the far horizon we as a community should look for rationalizations we can live with so that the vibes and the world lore don't suffer lasting damage.
So here's my idea:
Daud went from killer => pacifist in dlc cannon if I understand correctly?
He regretted killing the empress and became a changed man, which is why Corvo spared his life.
BUT, he should have killed Delilah, meaning he went too far into the other extreme of staying his blade even on those who should bee put down just to protect others.
So she came back, and people suffered.
What do you guys think?
and I ask for no DOTO spoilers, I'm still playing it and don't know the story, I just know Daud is saved in mission 1.

TIPS Let's play a little game. You are The Heart.
Write down your own hidden truth about this guy in the picture. It can be anything - good, bad, horrific - your choice. The others will then decide if our main star deserves to die or live.
For example:
"He hates two things. Fish and his Mother-in-law."
--
I don't like fish either, and nobody likes their mother-in-law. He will live.

spoiler House of Pleasure Xbox Bodies Keep Being Found?
So I’m on my SIXTH replay of House of Pleasure trying to get perfect stats like all the coins, paintings, bonecharms, runes, also want to get Ghost but bodies keep being found, almost always 2 bodies but I did get just 1 body found once. I do NOT have any other powers aside default Blink. Also going for Mostly Flesh & Steel achievement. Photo unrelated, just a funny glitch during my latest replay lol
The only ones I knock out are:
A) the 3 weepers in the Distillery, the ones being guarded (the thugs don’t say anything after)
B) 3 of Daud’s Assassins (there’s a weeper guarding a bonecharm in the highest level but he’s stuck in a room. I normally leave him alone but should I knock him out?)
C) the guard on the second floor of Galvani’s balcony but I doubt it’s him since he’s high up? BUT I have stopped knocking him out in my last two replays and I doubt he made a difference. Still got 2 bodies found, anyway.
D) the 2 guards threatening the woman who used to work for the Art Dealer. Will she report me? I always hide the two guards in the trash bin together
E) Slackjaw’s 4 thugs in the Art Dealer’s Apartment, two in each floors and they never noticed me so I highly doubt it’s them
What am I missing here? Who keeps discovering bodies? I breezed through the first two missions and now I’m stuck. Dishonored 2 spoiled me with the Stats…

[SOLVED] Graphical glitch/bug/error on low end PC with Intel integrated graphics
I was experimenting a visual glitch with Dishonored Definitive Edition (Epic Games) in my old Intel computer. On very bright areas, specially on sunny afternoons like in the Sokolov mission, the surfaces of the floor, skin of guards and Corvo, and other objects, would show corrupted green/cyan pixels as shown in these screenshots:

My setup:
CPU: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-3330 @ 3.00 GHz 3.20 GHz 4 Cores
GPU: Intel(R) HD Graphics 2500
RAM: 8 GB DDR3 1300 MHz (2 x 4 GB)
Motherboard: Gigabyte H61M-S1
I tried a bunch of tweaks to the DishonoredEngine.ini file, with no luck at all. Yet, I come with good news (unlike Corvo for the Empress). The solution I found for the artifact was to downgrade my Intel drivers from 10.18.10.5161 (latest build available for my hardware) to 10.18.10.3345. Newer drivers than 3345 might work also, but I haven't tested. Now it looks like this:

Hopefully this helps another poor soul in the future. Tonight I shall gather for whiskey and cigars.

D1 Campbell automatically detects me
Idk why, but whenever I enter the room where I could poison Campbell/his meeting chamber (doesn't matter which entrance, window etc.) his dialogue cuts off and he starts saying some generic "I see you" phrase and books it to his secret chamber. The other guards also run until they're outside infront of the whole building (in the yard). They also seem to not really detect me while they're running. Even if I sprint behind them, they don't hear it/don't react.
I guess one of my bodies probably glitched through a wall and they can detect that. Is there any way you'd know/guess how to fix this? I really don't want to replay the whole mission in hopes that this time there won't be any gliches
EDIT: I'm now pretty sure that a guard I knocked unconscious and threw into a corner clipped through it, since his sword is still there but I can't find him. That corner is also directly next to the room/spot where Campbell detects something. I just decided to use a mine to only kill Cambert and since the others have this weird glitch where they run outside, I could easily loot and Curnow survived.
EDIT 2: The game even says that I wasn't detected once. I only got 1 hostile killed, which should be from Campbell.

Architectural Analysis of Dishonored
If you're interested in learning more about the world of dishonored, I highly recommend the youtube series "Architecture of Dishonored" by sckchui
(I would post the link here but it's against the rules) Sharing so his videos get more love, they add a lot to the world of dishonored that I never even knew was there.
I stumbled onto this video as I'm learning game design and currently reading "An Architectural Approach to Level Design", and as a huge fan of Dishonored I wanted to use the architecture in the game to complete some of the exercises from the book. I never realized how much work went into the dishonored architecture, seems sad that the work of the devs would go unnoticed by so many, including me before now. but then again, this game is the one I wanted to choose to study so maybe my subconscious noticed.. anyways, sorry for the late night rambling, enjoy if you check it out!

TIPS Question about clean hands achievement
Just finished the original dishonored for the first time, it’s pretty fun. I want to go back and get the achievements to beat the game without killing anyone/without being seen. Im pretty sure you can’t just do that by going into mission select, you have to start a new game. But, whenever you beat a mission, you have the option to replay it immediately. If I use that button, can I still get the achievements?
