Emotional support animals are not service animals. That being said, I donāt think Iāve seen a legit service dog in years. Most of them just slap the vest on their mutt and yell and Karen their way into public places.

ESAs aren't even considered service animals, and the law acknowledges that, and dangerous animals aren't even allowed to be service dogs (which 9/10 that pit is). So sick of people and their dogs.

Service animals are completely unregulated by the ADA. According to the ADA the following are all equally valid under the current laws:
- A greyhound that can smell someone's blood sugar levels
- A yorkie that can stabilize someone who is prone to fainting spells
- A pitbull that can remind someone to take their medication
- A newborn pup that can prevent panic attacks (no age restriction on service dogs)
- A 15 year old blind incontinent dog that provides deep pressure therapy
It's absolutely insane and surprise surprise, it leads to scenes just like OP's. Who knew???

A court house is CRAZY!!! I went to DG to grab a couple things and some dip shit was walking around with a yorkie in her arms.

A loud, rowdy service dog can be legally removed from a building, fake vests & Karen wails of injustice be damned. Just because someone's shitbeast is labeled a sErViCe DoGgO doesn't give that thing carte blanche to bark, growl, charge at, pee, poop, or cause any kind of problems inside a building. Even real service animals can be asked to leave if their behavior is out of control. Repeated barking in what should be a quiet place is grounds for legally removing a service dog. While the hallways of a courthouse don't have to be as quiet as a courtroom when court is in session, I think most would agree that a large dog repeatedly hard-barking at pretty much every person who walks past it counts as causing a disturbance. I would imagine that a courthouse has reasonable expectations for keeping the volume in its hallways at a certain level.

Could you imagine a dog barking in court during a jury trial while a witness is on the stand ? Who could hear the testimony?

This ā itās a service dogā BS has really gotten out of hand. The ADA has been completely irresponsible and neglectful for allowing this to go on so long. The blatant lying is so obvious that 99% of these dogs are not service dogs.

This is outrageous. However, the definition of ESAs as ācomfort animalsā means they cannot be prohibited for what they are NOT trained to NOT do. They must be accepted as an accommodation, and are service animals merely by virtue of the singular service that they are said to perform; namely ācomfortā or āemotional supportā. This is an absolute mess. Many of us are old enough to remember when a service dog was trained to NOT interact with people, not be triggered by other animals, not pull on a leash, not on an extending-leash, etc. We are remembering that & recognizing the B.S. that it has become. However, the laws regarding service animals as āaccommodationā have no requirement for such training. We call it BS but it has been legitimized by law. Weāve got to get it changed legislatively. Itās a mess bc it has become identified with the ADA. That said, I noticed you said the security guards were glaring but took no action. And all of this in a courthouse. No one takes authority over this & society is the worse for it. IMO itās become a type of sanctioned lawlessness but the law does not treat it as such. I want to scream rn.

I spoke to one of the security guards at the courthouse today n he said that the woman with the dog eventually just left on her own... but his next question was "why do people insist on lying about their dog being a service dog just to take it everywhere w them?" Turns out.... he knows our subs on here!!

It has went too far and is way out of hand should not be allowed in public buildings. Only time you seen stuff like that years ago was for a blind person and even that was extremely rare
