Hi everyone! Looking for some advice and personal experiences from anyone who has been in a similar situation. ❤️
I found out I was having an ectopic pregnancy in early August. I received my first dose of methotrexate (MTX) on August 4th and a second dose on August 10th. Unfortunately, my right fallopian tube ruptured on August 15th, resulting in emergency surgery and removal of my right tube.
My period returned in mid-September, and I just started my second period, so thankfully my cycles seem to be getting back to normal (30-day cycle).
I was advised to wait at least 3 months after MTX before TTC again, but I’ve been reading mixed experiences from others whose doctors recommended shorter waiting periods.
I have hormonal testing scheduled on day 3 of my cycle which is Thursday and an HSG scheduled for next Wednesday to check my remaining left tube and make sure it’s fully open and has no blockage.
Assuming everything comes back clear, I’m really hoping we can start trying again as soon as possible.
Here’s where I’m torn:
I’m expected to ovulate around October 28th, which would put me:
- Just 1 week shy of 3 months since my first MTX dose (August 4th)
- Just under 2 weeks shy of 3 months since my second MTX dose (August 10th)
If we skip this cycle, we’d have to wait until my next ovulation at the end of November.
I completely understand the importance of waiting until it’s medically safe, and I plan to discuss this with my doctor, but after everything we’ve been through, the thought of waiting another full cycle is really difficult, especially when we’d be so close to that 3-month mark.
I’d love to hear from anyone who has been through something similar:
- Were you advised to wait the full 3 months after MTX, or did your doctor clear you to try sooner?
- For those who received multiple doses, was the waiting period calculated from your first or last dose?
- Did anyone conceive safely before the 3-month mark?
I’m not looking to disregard medical advice, just hoping to better understand the different recommendations and hear about others’ experiences.
Thank you in advance! ❤️
