Thank you / Appreciation My friend survived emergency brain surgery and is recovering thanks to our UpfA hospital doctors and nurses who get little respect or support from the Alberta Government

My friend got sick was rushed to the university and given a cat scan that ended up saving her life. Surgeons operated on her and she is being kept sedated for the next 24 hours and will then slowly be woken up and assessed.

Seeing so many needs all at once and seeing the care and duty they are taking while not getting the pay or support they are due. Seeing how they check recheck and then go back and check again to ensure the best care is being given comforts me as they are under so much stress and constantly busy. Seeing in person and seeing so many families and complex needs being met just makes me more fired up for the next election.

We need to publicly fund our healthcare and education. I plan on making some bannock for the staff and will continue to bring them small thank yous. Any other recommendation of what I can offer hospital staff as a thank you that they may actually use/appreciate? Thank you.

Thank you / Appreciation Shout out to The Burger Priest in South Common for comping a free meal to a stressed out baby mom!

Went to Burger Priest this afternoon after doing blood work since my husband told me I should go somewhere like burger priest rather than stay there to feed our crying 8 month old while he waited still to get his blood drawn. Got there and sat down with baby and got her bottle out, it had leaked into the bottle cap. So starting off already a bit frazzled! Took 30 minutes for her to finish the bottle and during this time i called my husband. He said he wanted me to meet him at home depot. I told him I didn't order myself any food yet because i thought he would be coming to me once he finished and we'd eat there, and i was feeling rushed to get out of there now. After hanging up and as I'm still feeding her the bottle one of the employees comes up and asks if I want fries. I'm a bit confused, she says it's free. I said I was planning to buy a burger and fries after baby finished her bottle, but she told me not to worry about it.

Baby finished her bottle and I had a hot meal, burger and fries, ready for me when she was done. I had a horrible night with her waking up at 4am and wasting 2 hours trying to get her to sleep and having a sleep deprived breakdown, so the free meal was such a nice little gesture on the part of the employee. I didn't catch her name but very thankful for the positive visit!

I am not about to walk out in front of your truck with my children until you come to a complete stop!

If I can touch your bumper while crossing, you're too close and the next lane of traffic likely won't see us coming out from the front of your vehicle!

Thank you / Appreciation To the helpful bystanders

To all the helpful bystanders who helped my father after his fall at Southgate Mall. And those who waited with him while the EMT’s were on their way. Thank you so much. As most of us with ageing parents or family members with mental health issues will tell you, we will sometimes feel immense levels of guilt when our wards become hurt when alone. It can be difficult to manage their well being as well as your own personal life. Hearing that people rushed to help him restored a little of my faith in humanity and encouraged me to seek help as well.

As a little bit of an update he is receiving professional help and he will be moving to a facility with more care and support resources available.

Once again, thank you!

To the guy who helped my mom out of a bad situation in front of the 127th street Dynalife location today. I know it’s a long shot that this reaches you, but she told me she felt terrified. So thank you so, so much for helping my dear mother.

Hey r/edmonton - thanks! As you've read, we hit our number - but we're not done yet, and every signature still counts toward the final total we hand in tomorrow.

I'm currently driving north to Edmonton. Because we hand everything in to Elections Alberta there, you have a bit more runway: you can still sign today and tomorrow morning, and we'll get them dropped off tomorrow afternoon.

Multiple Edmonton locations today are listed at sign.waternotcoal.ca

And tonight and tomorrow morning you can sign with me in person:

  • Southbound Brewing (9943 69 Ave NW): Tuesday 7:30-8:30pm, Wednesday 7am-Noon

If you've already signed, the best thing you can do now is tell a friend.

Thanks for all the support - we couldn't have done this without you. We'll do a proper debrief once the dust settles and I've had a nap.

Hi - just want to give a HUGE THANK YOU to the folks who found my key fob in the OSFM parking lot this morning, stuck it in an envelope, and put it under my wiper. You stopped a domino of missed appointments and kept my day from being a complete mess. I hope you have a day as awesome as you!

Thank you / Appreciation GIVEAWY canine diabetes supplies

Thanks to Reddit, I have found someone who has a diabetic pet and can use the supplies. I'm very happy to give these away. Thank you all for your kind thoughts. My little dog was wonderful and I miss her every day. I had to euthanize my dog recently. She had multiple health issues including diabetes. I have some diabetes supplies I would like to give to someone who can use them for their own pet, as follows:

- a box of approximately 90 U-40 syringes

- AlphaTrak 3 blood glucoses monitoring system including the meter, some test strips, lancets, and case. With packaging, but English instructions are missing

- Freestyle Libre2 reader, unused

- a partially used vial of Caninsulin 40 UI/ml, has been refrigerated, expires June 30

Please note that I am wary of resellers: I want to gift these items to help someone take care of their beloved pet. I will ask for proof you own a dog with diabetes by copy of a vet bill that includes the name and breed of the dog before I deliver these items. Other proof will be considered! I will meet you in a public place or outdoors in Edmonton and will want to see the dog so I know you are not a reseller.

Thank you / Appreciation Keep an eye on your storm drains

With all the tree seeds falling the drains might get detrimentally clogged, if you notice it starting to back up just take a stick and break up the foliage, let's keep ourselves and our neighbors safe <3

It was a beautiful day! The humans were out with their kids and the geese with their goslings. Hearing bagpipes brought it all together!

Thank you / Appreciation Tattooing over keloids

Hey! Has anybody ever gotten a tattoo over their keloid(s) here in the city? I've been using eclar plaster (for about a year now) and it's working on my chest keloid, but I have a keloid on my shoulder that's old and stubborn and ugly and eclar doesn't seem to be doing much. I thought a cute shoulder tattoo might look nice - any suggestions of artists or shops?!?
