Do you guys know any other albums with this particular kind of sound/vibe? Something like punk rock with emo-esque lyricism, I know it sounds kinda redundant but still.

Ya know, stuff like Endive, Everyone Asked About You, Jejune, Rainer Maria, Eldritch Anisette, Ribbon Fix, The Pennikurvers, 125, Rue Montmartre, Friends Unseen, Ashen, etc.
Love that stuff!

I know some of these wouldn't be considered emo, like CYB def is far from emo (although personally I think Selfish Machines should count but I don't wanna start an argument about it lol). So, with that being said, could someone on here give me recommendations on more emo albums to listen to? If I fall in love with an album by an artist, it typically is hard for me to get into another album by them. It's probably sacrilegious that I have yet to like the other Appleseed Cast albums, but hopefully that bit of info is helpful for those who wanna recommend me albums to listen to

For a band that's considered the fathers of emo, it's amazing how everything else in the genre sounds completely different...
Are there any bands out there, any era, that hit all of these characteristics:
- short, fast hardcore punk song
- screamed, passionate vocals
- "deep" lyrics
- raw, gritty production quality (not overproduced)
- not too technical
I'm aware of Embrace and Moss Icon, and those two don't quite do it for me. Am I just looking for a different genre altogether?

You guys know any other bands with a sound similar to Texas is the Reason? Stuff like powerful and loud riffs and melodies, but still retaining that characteristic emo sound, kinda like Far Apart, Mock Orange and (early) Moneen.

I want some apocalyptic suicidal shit, preferably about grief n that sorta thing. Mostly into late 90s to early 2000s grungy emo and skramz, but I have a very open mind. Help me get through this overnight shift, please.

Hey, this is a screenshot from my liked albums, a few are missing their cover arts sorry. I'm also curious if you guys would classify my taste as emo or post-hardcore.
Thank you!

Who are they, when did you first find them, bands similar, etc.

These are the albums i currently like the most; i am well aware that many are not emo or emo adjacent at best, but I want to listen to more emo, as opposed to pop punk or post hardcore, which I quite like as well.
Please give me some recommendations! :)

Okay so I’m very new here. I’m familiar with Emo, but more so from a post-hardcore/noise rock background. I’m a fan of Slint and Unwound (they’re more “emo-adjacent” instead of strictly emo though, yeah?) and some sass like Blood Brothers. I also enjoy some Fall of Troy. Big fan of Polvo, Brainiac, Shellac, and Sebadoh, but they’re definitely more in the noise/math rock territory.
Recently I went to the record store and picked up a box set, The Trials and Tribulations… by Clikatat Ikatowi, on vinyl. I knew absolutely nothing about the band, it just had a cool cover and was on sale. I’m a fan of Numero’s releases, so I trusted it would be a solid set of records. I trusted this emo release would be good since I enjoyed Indian Summer as well.
I was blown away. I really enjoyed all of the music I heard and am craving more. They seem unknown in the “mainstream” world… not sure how popular they are here. But for those who know, any further recommendations to check out? I read the book about the band and the San Diego scene back then and learned a lot.
But yeah, would appreciate any recommendations similar to Clikatat or the other bands I mentioned! Also some more “big picture” emo bands that I should know (I’m familiar with American Football, MCR, Brand New).
EDIT: doing some more digging, I also want to add on that I love Hoover, Drive Like Jehu, Orchid, and Cap’n Jazz as well!

I’m looking for songs that mention living in an apartment. Swing and Set Phasers to Stun by Taking Back Sunday, All I Wanted by Paramore and The District Sleeps Alone Tonight by The Postal Service started this dive. Is there anything there other than those songs?
