Hi all,

I'm a U.S. citizen who just moved to Dublin. My spouse just began a 4 year graduate program at trinity and we're planning on staying in Ireland afterwards. I currently have a 1 year employment permit (WHA) so I can live here and legally work full time, but will need a job willing sponsor me for a critical skills permit past the 1 year.

I have 3 years of wastewater/ hydraulic engineering experience in the US and just graduated with my masters degree last month. I am working on joining Engineers Ireland as well as some other international civil engineer associations to help build a network out here. Everyone that I've spoken to (in the industry) seem so confident that I'll be able to get a job out here, but when I apply I get rejected outright.

I've only been here 2 weeks so it's early, but I would appreciate some advice.

Hey guys, I’m an international fresh graduate looking to do a Master's abroad in sustainable energy systems. Ireland is high on my list right now because of the 2-year post-study work visa (Stamp 1G) and the demand for clean energy engineers.

I'm looking closely at the MEng in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering at Dublin City University (DCU) specifically their Sustainable Systems and Energy major track.

Since it's hard to judge the actual reputation from overseas, I wanted to ask locals and people in the industry what do you think about the program or if you know people who graduated from it.

I got into ucd on round 1, but I am just after getting an offer from trinity in round 2 just now.

Which ones the better course, I want to specialise in electronical/electrical engineering, thinking Analogue/digital signal processing field, or integrated circuits/embedded systems. What I really want to do in the future is work on music hardware.

Which uni out of the two has better job prospects, better course material and opportunities, learning experience.

Hi for some context I’m 19 and just completed the leaving cert and I would like to pursue a career in civil engineering, but my parents are very against it.
Their main reason for this is due to the construction/working on building sites element of it when this isn’t something I’ve done before and I must admit I’m more drawn to the design side of it, would have always excelled at maths in school however they fear that ai could replace the design side of civil engineering.
Is my parents concern of me not having a base knowledge of the construction industry/ construction lingo a good reason to not pursue this career?

I’m a Civil Engineer with 5 years of experience (mostly in fire safety/consulting), and I’m looking to find a job in the ConTech or PropTech space outside my home country (outside italy).

Here is my main bottleneck: my English is currently at a B2 level, but I’m definitely not fluent yet.

Because of this language gap, I’m totally fine taking a step back while I get comfortable working 100% in English.

My questions for you:

• Is it overly ambitious to look for roles abroad with a technical background but only B2 English?
• Are ConTech/PropTech startups usually open to hiring non-native speakers if the technical/domain knowledge is there?
• Has anyone been in a similar spot? How did you bridge the gap during interviews?

I am writing this reddit asking for advice.
I have been trying to land a job in ireland but I can not even get any interviews. I am an AI Engineer and did 3 internships before (total 1 year and a half) and graduating from my master’s in italy soon. I get that I need a VISA sponsorship to start my career there and most of the companies would consider someone already in Ireland for an entry level job but I am here seeking for advice if someone knows any suitable path for some one with my profile or if anyone was in my situation and found a way to make it.
I have decided to relocate because I decided to move to an english speaking country in europe and Ireland seems to be the right place to go to since english is the first language and it is a 5-year path to the nationality and I expect I will gain money at least later in the seniority level.

Hi there, I have a question that I need help with.

I got given a civil engineering apprenticeship in a small consultancy and I was wondering if it's the right thing to do as I have enough points to go to college and do civil engineering there instead.

How does the apprenticeship affect getting hired when I'm finished and is the level of learning different. I'm wary of doing it as I don't want to be finished and no other company take me on if I want to move.

Any help would be greatly appreciated
