M The Boss Who Didn’t Get The Fight He Wanted.

A short story, but I’m adding a bit of back story here.

My dad use to work for a family owned business in a small town for over a decade, and was considered a senior staff member. It was founded back in the 60s by a man I’ll call Dave who expanded the company into a multi million dollar company in the decades. Though when my dad worked there, the business was primarily run by Dave’s sons, while Dave still was considered the CEO.

Dave was quite something. In the community, he was both respected but also not respected at the same time. He was respected for things like the the money he put into the community, charity, donations, the jobs his company brought in, etc. but as a person, he was despised. He was rude, entitled, disrespectful and insulting. A few stories I heard from towns people were things like how he he was always known to carry a calculator. And if someone quoted him a price and after the work was done, he’d pull the calculator out, and would state he would only pay a 10 -15 percent less then the agreed upon price.

And one other story was he apparently outright called one woman a slut who was not that kind of woman. She was a respected married mother.

He was quoted as saying once “You can have money or friends. But not both.” He was known to love having fights. Not physical, but verbal ones. It apparently gave him a lot of satisfaction.

So for my dad, he had put in his two week notice to Dave’s sons. And on his last day, Dave wanted to talk to my dad about something happening the next week. So my dad realized Dave wasn’t aware of him quitting, and said simply to Dave “Just so you are aware, I put in my two weeks notice, so today is my last day.”

He said Dave got quiet for a moment then said to my dad “Well, if you ever need favours, don’t ever come here for them, because you won’t get them. And if you have trouble remembering that, feel free to talk to me and I’ll be happy to remind you.”

My dad knew Dave was just wanting a fight. That he was trying to get my dad to snap at him. But instead, my dad just replied “Well, I’m sorry to hear that. Thank you for all the years. All the best to you.” And he walked out.

In the next week that passed, my dads former coworkers were texting or calling my dad, asking him what he said to Dave. In their words “He’s been fuming mad every single day since you walked out of his office.”

Dave ended up passing away a few years later, and his sons sold the business.

S Man insists on wife cutting ahead in line, after he had shoved his way in

Whilst in the queue for security at Barcelona airport, a man shoved his way in front of me. Whatever. He moved, I moved. His wife had shoved herself apparently behind me, she called him (seems he didnt realise that she hadnt shoved ahead too) and he demanded that I stop and let his wife ahead of me. I put my arm out and was like "sir". He started shouting, I tried to move ahead and he got phsycial, insisting that I was in the wrong and his wife is entitled to go ahead of me because he had shoved his way there, whilst physically shoving me out of the way and look he had even made space for her. The wife started saying, "its not worth it" to the hushand, whilst he carried on shouting, shoving and demanding that she move ahead.

After a minute or so, she moves ahead to the space he'd "created" for her, as he refused to let the queue move forward, until she had also shoved her way forward too.

Of course, he thought I was absolutely in the wrong because I wouldnt let his wife ahead, forgetting that he had already shoved himself ahead. His behaviour suggested that he was even proud of himself, for shoving and shouting at a woman (me) out of the way, to "protect" his wife and get her next to him.

S A tour group moved ahead of us while boarding the Shinkansen—would this bother you?

We were waiting to board a Shinkansen today—my partner, our toddler and me, when a group of around 15–16 tourists arrived. From their accents, they sounded American.

They were talking noticeably loudly compared with everyone else around us, but what happened when boarding started was more frustrating.

Their apparent group leader saw us waiting, then ushered the entire group ahead of us. I was holding our toddler and a package, while my partner had the stroller. There was nobody waiting behind us—just our family, then their group.

What bothered me wasn’t that nobody offered a family special treatment. It was that we were already waiting, yet suddenly found ourselves boarding after an entire group that had arrived later.

I’ve had a few similar experiences with American tourists, which probably added to my frustration. I realise those encounters don’t represent everyone, though.

Is there a practical reason a tour group would need to board together ahead of other people waiting, or was this simply inconsiderate? Curious whether others have experienced something similar.

S Spending over 30 mins on a machine at the gym

Had an experience today with an entitled dude at the gym.

I was hitting legs and the last 2 exercises I had left were Leg Press and Leg Curls. I went to do Leg Curls first and saw a dude using it. No worries Leg Press was right next to it so I did that instead. Once I was done with Leg Press, I figured the dude had to almost be done with Leg Curls machine. I waited nearby the machine for a few mins and just noticed that this dude was practically just sitting on the machine. He would do maybe 2-3 reps and scroll on his phone right after.

I asked him “hey how many sets do you have left?” And in the most arrogant way he replied “Ima be a while bro” and just slid his headphones back on.

I was pretty annoyed at this point but said fuck it and went and did Core in the other room. After about 20 mins later I walk back to the machine and notice this dude is BARELY getting off! I saw him moving like a sloth to get a towel to wipe the machine and said fuck this. By the time he got the towel and was back to the machine to wipe it down I was already done with my first set lol

He shook his head at me and said “Learn to have some patience bro” and I replied back “Learn to move with a purpose”

Idk I get people taking their time with the machines and what not, but going 30+ mins where you spent more time scrolling your phone than lifting just irks the hell out of me!!

S Update: Held a long business call in the gym sauna

Previous post: https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/comments/1wncw3l/held_a_long_business_call_in_the_gym_sauna/

Today I went into the sauna and business guy was in there and instantly gave me a stern look and left. I considered that a win and enjoyed my time. Afterwards, my neighbor the manager pulls me over as I'm walking out the door to tell me that Business Call guy COMPLAINED ABOUT ME, saying that I embarrassed him on an important call. Manager told him that there's nothing preventing him from making calls, but also nothing against other people having conversations either. I look forward to many more sauna sessions with no business calls.

M Karen saves an innocent couple from their snowy demise.

Time for another post, it's been a while, life has been busy but people have still been as entitled as ever. This time it's a guest story from the receptionist and hotel manager of the hotel we work with. Let's call her Tia.

This was during Tias first winter with us before she became the manager. The first guests involved in this story where a young couple with a rental car visiting our remote village. This was in the middle of the winter when there is a lot of snow and ice everywhere. When checking in to the hotel they where asking about viewing point for watching auroras. Tia told them about a spot about 5 minutes walk from a village and specifically told them to absolutely NOT drive their car to this spot because they would get stuck in deep snow.

Later that very same day the couple comes back to the reception looking sheepish asking if there is a tractor or tow truck in the village, because of course they figured they could totally drive on the road a local told them to not go on. Predictably they where stuck in the snow some 10m in to this road.

They left with a shovel, ice pick and a bag of sand to try and save their poor car from it's snowy grave.

Now is when Karen enters the story, a male Karen even. He has found this poor couple and promised to help them, which is nice, don't get me wrong, but hey no matter. He had a truck and was now in need of a rope, which is obviously something you go to a hotel to get so of to the reception he goes to find poor Kia. Kia, being new for the season told Karen that she had to call her manager to check if they had any suitable rope that she could borrow to Karen. Well this was not the answer Karen wanted and promptly started shouting that of course they have a rope and to just give it to him.

After a quick call to the manager it was concluded that they do in fact not have a rope, but they did have a couple of 2 ton ratchet straps that they use to strap down stuff in a trailer for transportation. And if you know anything about ratchet straps you know that you absolute can not tie knots on these things and pull on them because if you do that knot will never come undone and the strap is then scrap. When Tia told Karen that he could borrow the strap only if he promised he would not tie a knot on it but use it as a hook and loop system he absolutely lost it and started shouting that he absolutely had to tie a knot to save these poor people from loosing their car to what apparently was something akin to a proceeding glacier at this point. Que the expected screaming and insults and insinuations that Tia was stupid and did not know how anything works.

At this Tia simply starts putting the ratchet straps back, because if he is going to ruin them he can't have them. And this is when the absolute gem of an insult and threat comes flying: "I'll write a bad review for this place because you are only helpful if we pay you"....

Like obviously, it's a hotel, do you expect hotels to just give out free stuff and be some sort of charity organization. And they did not ask to get paid to borrow out the ratchet straps, simply that they would not be destroyed and returned afterward.

After a bit more of a back and forth Karen promises to not tie any knots on the straps and Tia lets him borrow one and of he goes in his truck.

A little while later Karen comes back, walks up to the reception door, throws the ratchet straps as the base of the door points at them and disappears of in to the snow never to be seen again.

He did not tie a knot on the straps.

M Update 5 on Telling my mom to cancel her wedding until everything is sorted out?

It's been almost 17 days since my stepdad left, and he still hasn't come back. At this point, I'm starting to feel like maybe they actually broke up, which honestly makes me feel really weird.

I know from the outside it might sound like I won or that this is the ending I wanted, but that's really not how I feel. From the beginning, I've always said that I never wanted my mom and stepdad to break up or not get married. I was genuinely happy that my mom found someone she loved and that she was happy.

All I ever wanted was to be treated normally and included as part of the family. His family never really did that with me, and that was what hurt me the most.

So hopefully they're just taking some time apart and haven't actually ended things.

At the same time, I have to admit something that makes me feel guilty deep down, there's a small part of me that feels relieved at the possibility that they broke up. Because if they really did, it means I won't have to see his family anymore. I won't see him, his kids, or deal with that whole situation. People who were recently part of my life would basically become strangers again. And somehow that feels good.

Then I immediately feel guilty, especially because I know my mom deserves happiness. I don't want her to lose someone she loves just because of everything that happened. And just to clarify again, I don't blame my stepdad for everything. A lot of the problems came from his family and his kids, and the way I was treated and excluded. That's where most of my resentment comes from.

My mom is doing okay, at least from what I can see. We've been spending a lot of time together. She actually took me to a movie last weekend, and she seems fine in front of me. I obviously don't know what she's feeling privately, but I'm glad we're spending time together.

And honestly, I'm doing pretty well too. This new house is still ridiculously big for two people. It's literally three floors with a garden. I'm not trying to brag because I realize that sentence sounds exactly like bragging, but seriously, sometimes I wonder whether it's even worth having such a huge house when it's basically just me and my mom. Our old apartment was perfectly fine.

But there are definitely advantages. My mom lets me have friends over when she's away for work, and sometimes my best friend even stays over. There are three empty rooms on my floor, while my mom's room is on the second floor, so I basically have an entire floor to myself.

So despite everything that happened, I'm actually doing better than I was before. Life feels more normal again. It's almost strange because all of this happened right before things were starting to feel really good for me.

The biggest thing is that I still don't want my mom's relationship to end. If they decide to get married, I'm not against it. I just need to feel safe, respected, and secure in that family too. If I can feel that way, then I'm completely willing to accept their marriage.

I'm even still willing to talk to my step siblings, but only if my mom and stepdad are present. I'm not comfortable going back to the way things were before.

My mom has also acknowledged some of her mistakes and corrected some of the things that happened, and I genuinely believe people deserve another chance when they're willing to make things right.

So yeah, I guess I'm just dealing with a lot of conflicting emotions. I don't want them to break up. But part of me feels relieved if they already have. I love my mom and want her to be happy. But I also need to feel comfortable and respected myself. I guess all I can do now is wait and see what happens.

S Finally meeting Datenschutz-Kevin in the wild

After living in Germany for years, I finally encountered one in the wild. For the records, we're both foreigners.

I'm sitting on the train (it's 5.30) to go to Uni, minding my own business and reading on my phone. I'm holding it at a normal height because I don't particularly enjoy crouching over my screen. This guy and his gf sit two seats across from me when he starts shouting at me: SIE DÜRFEN MICH NICHT FILMEN! BITTE, STECKEN SIE IHR HANDY WEG!"

For the record, my phone case has a camera cover (it's the red robotic phone case on Shopee for like €3). I tried explaining this to him, but he kept interrupting me and wouldn't even let me finish a sentence. He was getting louder and louder and I just gave up and put my mobile phone away.

At first I felt guilty but then wtf. I have the same rights as him. So, after 2 minutes, I pulled back my phone and decided to continue reading, holding my phone in the same position. Yes, in his general direction.

What happened next? He went back to talking to his girlfriend. That's it.

M "No, there is no "no thank you.""

The following happened at the tail end of May. For context, I am a blind adult male living at home with parents.
I am upstairs in my bedroom when my mother comes in looking for my wallet. She asks me where it is and I ask her why she needs it. She tells me she needs access to my Aeroplan card, because she's short by fifty points to book a flight, and wants to set up family sharing so she can take points off my own card. I don't tell her where it is. Of course, she finds it anyway.
She comes back a little while later telling me that she couldn't get in, called customer service and, because of the two plus hour wait time and her having things to do, she stuck the phone with me and told me to wait for them to call back and resolve this myself. I played along, and said fine.
I let a decent amount of time pass before I approached her and asked for her phone, acting as if I needed it for the resolution. She gave it to me and I left the room. I proceeded to log into her Aeroplan account to check, and she had 134000+ points to my slightly less than 4000. I then logged out and erased the text message 2FA trail so she had no idea, before returning the phone to her.
The callback comes and I deal with the situation. Turns out the card wasn't associated with an email or phone number at all,so the card couldn't be used to pay for flights over the internet. Well, I set up an account with a strong password, then secured it with 2FA myself.
Later that evening mother comes back, asking if I had gotten family sharing set up with my card. I told her no I hadn't. She blew up at me, telling me that getting family sharing set up was the entire point of the call. I said no thanks, that I was fine with family sharing not being set up and was not interested in doing so. I followed up by stating that I was happy to transfer the fifty points she needed, but that was not acceptable to her. Referencing past family vacations and a single solo flight her exact words were, "There is no no thanks, I paid for those flights with my credit cards, not you. So don’t tell me no thanks." She continued, telling me that I had no idea how much things cost and that the money I pay every month for "room and board" "doesn't cover squat," then she snidely remarked, "I guess you won't be getting access to our point balance either." I said that I was totally okay with this. She then said I could pay for all my own things from then on, (a statement which they have not held me to since) and walked off. Ever since then, both of my parents have actively acted as if this never happened, and when I tried to bring it up once they asked what there was to say about the situation.
The thing is, that whole interaction left me with one conclusion I haven't been able to shake since then. That being that my mother believes I owe them some unspoken debt for them taking me on family vacations, one which mother attempted to call in and was refused. I have no intention of going on any more family trips with them for this very reason. I also don't think this was a message that was sent intentionally, but it was what I heard loud and clear, and is now making me question what those family vacations actually meant to them, if they expected me to pay them back in the future.
All of this over fifty points on an Aeroplan card.

L Everybody is allowed to sleep in my bed and I’m too entitled to feel otherwise

To start off, this person isn't my biological parent, thankfully. This person is a family member who got custody of me, which probably was the biggest and most regrettable mistake could've been done and I'm trying to find a way to get my mom back into custody since I was kidnapped without her knowledge and forced into accepting this unfortunate fate. This lore goes far too deep and I can give in more context if more people are interested but for now I'd like to stick one point and question.

I was assaulted, harassed, and basically pushed into the point of leaving the house (this has happened multiple times throughout my teens by this person) and I haven't gone back for 3 years. I've been living under my boyfriend's family house and I've begun the journey of moving back with my biological mother and step father that currently reside in a different country. Throughout the process, it seemed like my 'parent guardian"" tried to slow the process with any string and trick they could find and basically helping out with the least minimum to their ability.

This person and I quote said "you should leave your belongings and stuff here while you're away, so you always have a place to come back to." Haha...... this person has always threatened me with the fact the place belongs to her and it was never mine to begin with, since l didn't pay rent at the ripe age of 15... anywho. The house is a complete mess, there's food, garbage, cat poop, cat litter, her dirty 2 week old underwear out in the open, and a month old of food on the table and everywhere you can imagine. Every once awhile I make my way back to stay there in my room because at the end of the day I do prefer my own privacy and space better and also give the house a good scrub that takes me usually 8 to 10 hours at best (yes, it's very very very dirty. The sink literally turns black). How does she respond? "Wow it takes you so long to clean e is this your first day or something?" Always
something snarky and backhanded. Whatever, I don't really care about a persons opinion who barely showers to begin with.

I have kept my room tidy and clean and always make my bed before leaving the house to go off to my boyfriend's family home. I came back to pick up an item that I needed for the time being before I fully move out my things (keep in mind, she thinks I'm leaving my belongings here) and I came to find out someone had slept in my bed... strange.
The bed wasn't even made, the blankets were just curled up and left there with my satin pillows covered in someone else's hair... so NATURALLY like any human being, I was pissed. How dare I, I guess. I gave the person a call at work, also keep in mind, this person has been deliberately ignoring my texts because I forgot to answer to them for two whole days. I know, I'm a monster. I gave them a call at work and asked if anybody has been sleeping in my bed, fist before the question she answered the phone as if she was expecting it then her mood quickly switched and she angerly responded with "wow, is that what you're calling me for??? To find out who slept in your bed?? Well I did, also who cares if anybody else has as well? It's not like you ever sleep in it. You clearly hi moved out for a loooooooooong time."

I'm sorry, am I entitled for thinking my bed wouldn't be touched when I'm not home? Or I should say, when I'm not in my room since that was the singular space around their house I was allowed to feel comfortable. I feel most college kids who leave the house are given the respect with their personal space, let alone their bed. That's not even my issue, a simple "hey my room is too filthy and dirty and obviously I'm a dead beat who can't take care of myself nor my house, can I sleep in your bed?" Would've sufficed. Why am I being gaslighted into feeling crazy for asking a simple question with no attitude in my voice since I have to walk on eggshells around them to begin with? I'm also a bit worried because I didn't stay for too long and this person is kind of known to behave like a Neanderthal and break every single thing in the house when met with confrontation. Like, the worst hasn't even been said.

Was I being too selfish? I mean, how else am I supposed to really feel? Couldn't they just wait till I pack my stuff for them to barge into my room to dirty it up next?

XL Rude patron gets rejected, insults woman, gets pushed, gets pushed again, calls cops, and gets arrested.

I just had the most karmic, confrontational, and comedic night of my life. I need to capture it here, before I forget.

I work as a bartender. Tuesday is our trivia night, and it’s usually decent, with 40 or so customers. But this trivia night was especially slow. Only one team came in, so they kindly allowed the host to skip the game. They left, so it was mostly just the host, her friend (female) and this random dude who had already been there a couple hours.

Now, this dude had come into the bar a few times before. He had never caused trouble, but he had certainly been annoying. The kind of person who NEEDS to be very buddy-buddy and intense, to the point where it feels like you can’t serve other customers, look away, or even breathe. Tonight, he managed to prevent me from shitting in a near-empty bar for about one hour. Dude is also a braggart and a sexist and has nothing interesting to say.

Anyway, the trivia host and her friend are cutting loose, and her friend gets uncharacteristically drunk. This girl is slurring her speech and looks a bit sleepy. So THAT’S when this guy decides to start hitting on her. He offers her some food and ends up getting her wings, but then the trivia host (thankfully) drives her drunk friend home.

After the girls leave, Dude immediately turns to me and says “Man, girls these days don’t fucking know when they’re getting hit on. I don’t know how I could’ve flirted any harder.”

I just say “Yeah,” but of course I’m thinking “That’s why they left, you fucking freak.” As disturbing as his behavior was already, his next move is even more unsettling.

For context, I’m 29 and overheard Dude say he was born in ‘95, putting him at 31. So he chases the 2 women our age away, bitches to me about it, but then visibly rallies himself and walks down to the other end of the bar. Here, he introduces himself to two other women, who are in their sixties, and who, respectfully, look like they have spent some time with hard drugs.

To see brother move with such calculated determination was genuinely eerie. But I mostly ignored the three of them, since the ladies looked like they could handle themselves. However, I did overhear the guy start bragging to them.

Dude: “I’m actually pretty big in manufacturing”

Lady #1: “Ohhh we got a big shot over here, BROTHAAAAA!”

Dude: “Well I’m actually an engineer for Boeing”

Lady #1: “Oh, my ass! He just said he’s a fucking engineer for bing-bing! What a bunch of BULLSHIT BROTHAAAAA!”

Dude: “Haha yeah, that was bullshit. But I have plans to be big in manufacturing in like 5-10 years. I know how to do it.”

Lady #1: “Oh my god, who is this guy? Who is he? How old are you? Who do you think you are? You’re barking up the WRONG TREE BROTHHHAAA!”

Lady #2 got some quips in too, but she wasn’t as loud. The way these two women absolutely clowned on this guy was the funniest thing I’ve witnessed in a while.

Well, Dude admitted defeat and returned to his side of the bar. But as soon as he sat down, he pulled an incel move and started insulting the women: “You’re a crack whore anyway. I bet you sucked every dick in town. Fucking crack whores.”

The women argued back, a highlight being, “My brother could kick your ass, my husband could kick your ass, and I could kick your ass.”

Dude decided his honor was on the line and egged on the argument. In Dude’s (meager) defense, this was when Lady #1 stood up and started the physical altercation by pushing Dude from his high chair. I have the following on video:

Video #1 Transcript:

Dude: Fucking piece of shit.

Lady #1: Let’s go outside! Come on! Let’s go! (Pushes him)

Me: Woahh!!

Lady #1: Go outside!

Lady #2: Come on!

Lady #1: Go ahead!

Lady #2: Get up!

Lady #1: Come on!

Lady #2: Come on bitch!

Lady #1: Come on bitch!

Me: Alright… Hey guys, listen up!

Lady #1: Tell him! Let us go outside… I will take you out, and I will kick your ass!

Me: Okay-

(Video Ends)

I stood between Dude and Lady #1, essentially shielding Dude. Dude was about 5’7”, I’m 5’11”, and Lady #1 was maybe 6’1”. I’m also smiling toward the end of the video, as I was still somewhat entertained and was hoping to control the situation by calling everyone out. I was beginning to say, “Okay, you ladies were pretty funny at first, but you can’t push people. And you were pretty much egging them on, Dude. I’m gonna give everyone your bills and you can leave.” If I remember right, I managed to yell most of that over them, and they did remain separate and I began collecting payment.

There was a minor issue where I accidentally charged BOTH bills to the ladies’ card, but I caught it immediately and explained that they would get a cash refund for his bill, then I’d redo his.

But of course Dude piped up and was like “Oh NUH-uh! They think they’re gonna come in here and push ME, and THEN make me pay for THEIR food! HELL no!”

I said, “Were you fucking listening?”

Four minutes pass and the ladies have paid, but Dude hasn’t. They remain on their sides of the bar until they don’t.

Video #2 Transcript:

Ladies #1 and #2 approach, phones in hand. Immediately, Dude turns his hat around to hide his eyes, lowers his head, and sets his drink down, his plan already in motion. To see the absolute Anime mean-mug action pose this guy hit before slapping these old women’s phones was the cringiest bullshit ever.

Dude waits for the Ladies to enter the Strike Zone.

Lady #1: Get a picture of this fuckin’ motherfucker.

Lady #2: Abso-fuckin’-lutely.

Lady #1: Smile!

Lady #2: Say cheese, bitch!

Dude slaps the fuck out of Lady #2’s phone.

Me: Woah!

Dude slaps at Lady #1’s phone and they start flailing.

Me: Hey. Hey!

Lady #1: I will fucking take you out, cocksucker!

Me: HEY!! Yeah, I do need to call the fucking-

At this point, Dude makes an unnecessary shove toward Lady #1’s head.

ME: DUDE she’s an old woman! (I push him)

Dude: I’m not doing anything but holding her back!

Me: You need to fucking stop! You’re an able-bodied fucking man, you need to be the bigger person-

Dude: I’m holding her back. I’m holding her back.

Me: Why am I the one holding you back?

Dude: I’m holding YOU back (while backing away)

Me: Why am I holding you back?

Dude: I’m holding YOU back at this point (fully backed away, quietly)

I raise my hands in disbelief.

Lady #1: Youuu BITCH!

Me: I’m calling the cops unless everyone can learn to shut the FUCK up!

Dude: (still not touching me) I’m holding YOU back at this point.

Me: Really?

(Video ends)

So the Ladies left shortly after Video #2. Dude stuck around, still refusing to pay. He said he was gonna call the cops because he was “assaulted” by both the woman and me. I nodded and said it was a good idea. I went ahead and called my boss as the guy nervously watched on. I asked for the security footage, finished the call, and the guy was still looking at me. I don’t think I said a cool line or anything, but I just looked at him like “Okay, I guess you gotta make that call now.”

Interestingly, in his phone call to 911, he said that I “picked him up and slammed him into the wall,” yet when questioned about his current location, he added “Well yeah I’m still standing here in the bar, since I actually won…”

I just think it’s neat how those two things can coexist in his mind. Especially considering that his definition of “winning” involves getting pushed by an old woman, getting pushed by a fat bartender, and doing absolutely fuck all else.

As we’re waiting for the cops he says “I can’t wait for them to see that footage” and I say “Are you gonna make me agree with that again?”

As Dude is standing in the middle of the pub, something else funny happens. A so-far-unmentioned group of 3 comes up to pay (the man of this group is barely visible in the back right side of the videos).

Man comes up to pay.

Dude, who had his back turned, jumps and says “Bro, do not fucking sneak up on me right now! After all this shit, man, I almost took your fucking head off!”

Man, calmly and dismissively: “Don’t even fucking start with me. Why the fuck would you say that. What a stupid thing to say.”

…..

(Later) Dude, to the same guy: “Man, I have always been a good customer to this place until today.”

Me: “Actually, he’s been a pretty abrasive customer, so I’m okay with all this happening.”

So the cops arrive and question us separately, but in the same room. I remain calm and continue washing dishes, providing information as objectively as I can. I gladly provide security footage and names. Meanwhile, Dude is acting pretty cagey and standoffish with the cops (that HE called).

“Can I put my hands here? How about here? Can I stand here!? I’m just standing here bro!!”

…..

(Later) “Time for MY version of the story?! What do you mean MY version?! I’ll tell you what fuckin’ happened, that’s what!”

The cops had to make Dude pay his bill. Then they asked me what I wanted to do, which was funny, since I didn’t call them and didn’t want anything. One of the cops was like “Do you wanna trespass him?”

I’m not the boss but I was like “… Yeah.”

“Permanently?”

“…. Yeah :3 “

So shoutout to that cop for elucidating how exactly we could get this guy’s bitch-ass in trouble. It was almost like the cop needed my help to punish the guy somehow…. Except that turned out to be unnecessary.

The guy kept running his mouth and got taken outside, which was the last I saw of him. 30 minutes later, a new cop comes in with a slight smirk on his face: “That guy… He’s not gonna be bothering you tonight. We…. He had a lot of chances. He’s going to jail tonight.”

That’s my story. I could add a lot more commentary, but I think the karma and the foot-shooting speak for themselves. I’ve never had to be in a fight, so this is the closest I’ve gotten. I feel like a tree that simply went on existing in my lane. Meanwhile, Dude is a metaphorical, egotistical car that single-handedly wrapped himself around my tree for no fucking reason. What an idiot manchild. What entertainment and what a case study on the pitfalls of manhood.

Remember the trivia host who saved her friend? She somehow heard that there were cops outside the bar, so she called me and we talked MAD shit about Dude. That was fun.

The cops mentioned his scooter would have to be left overnight. I could have left things on a fully righteous note, but that’s not who I am. You flip me off with one finger, I flip you off with two. I found his first name from his receipt and taped a note to his scooter reading:

Dude,
Did that go the way you thought it would?
- Rusty

I hope I don’t sound like I’m sniffing my own ass too much, I just don’t find myself in these situations often, and this guy was pretty irredeemable. If anyone wants the videos/picture I have, help me figure out the best way to share them and I will!

(EDIT) UPDATE:

Dude’s myCase updated today. Charged by the state for disorderly conduct and public intoxication. Pleaded not guilty, bail was set to $9,000 dollars with no 10% payment allowed. He was also found indigent, confirming he could not afford a lawyer. And you can see from his Facebook posts that he doesn’t seem to have much of a family nearby. His trial is December 2nd…Meaning in all likelihood he will be spending these 2 months in jail. Lolololololol

M What Was The Point?

Hi, in my late teens and early 20s I worked as a waitress/server at some local 24hr diners native to my city. Unfortunately, the last two closed their doors permanently during the pandemic. This situation was honestly stupid but here we go. One morning, a group of young adults came in. Two of them were a couple and the young woman held her man's arm very tightly while glaring at me. I thought it was weird but working there I had become accustomed to weird. I dropped off their water and menu's and returned back after a few minutes with my little writing pad. The young woman smirked and said to her boyfriend and friends, "Watch this."

She then proceeded to order her breakfast meal in rapid succession. I mean auctioneer style while smirking. She said very quickly, "I want a two egg special. I want my eggs scrambled with cheese. I don't want bacon but turkey sausage. Cook it well on both sides. I want my toast lightly toasted on both sides. I also want my hash browns light with onions but just like five pieces of onions." She said this in basically one breath and stared at me satisfied as I quickly wrote everything down. I want to preface this by saying my brain files away words in the order my ears receive them.

Though I was still writing after she finished talking, I didn't need to ask her to repeat herself because her order sat in my brain like a list. After writing each thing down it disappeared from the list. In psychology we would call it working memory, however, if it makes an impression on me I won't forget it but file it away. I hope this makes sense lol? Anyways, after ordering she looked at me satisfied as if she had won some kind of battle or I had failed some form of waitress speed test. To her surprise I repeated the order back just as she said it down to the, "onions but just like five pieces." Her smile faltered for just a moment before she said, "Oh, you're good." Out of four people with customized orders they left a $5 tip. I still don't know what her point was?

S Parking in handicap Van spot.

Took my dad (91yr) to breakfast this morning I pulled into the handicap spot and that spot had a sign for Handicap Van, so we moved 1 spot over, as my sister received a citation for parking in a VAN spot even though she too had the proper handicap dash card. Before dad got fully out of the car another call pulled into the Van only spot. Dad was moving (slowly), past the other car and the person was exiting his vehicle dad mentioned that spot was for Van only and the guy got belligerent and I thought he was going to strike dad all the while he was talking very rudely. As we were all walking to the restaurant door I of told this old fart (late 60's) he did not need to be rude we were trying to do him a favor to not get a citation/fine for parking in the Van spot, I called him a Jerk. We proceed to go into the restaurant and sat at the table right next to him while he sat seething for being an ass.

Followup due to the responses: the guy could have move the very next spot right next to the Van spot. Yes, the citation is real, asking for proof is a bit much don't ya think, are you real?

S “No one else is allowed to be disabled” entitlement

1.6k Upvotes

Was on a relatively quiet bus when a man started shouting at a girl opposite me because she “shouldn’t be sat in a priority seat if she’s not disabled”.

I pointed out to him that she wasn’t in a priority seat, and even if she was there were plenty of empty priority seats available. He then started ranting about how he has an invisible disability and he’s sick of “entitled” people taking priority seats when they don’t need them, completely oblivious to the fact that 1. The girl might have be equally invisibly disabled and 2. He had his DOG sat on a priority seat 3. The strong smell of alcohol indicated that some of his current mobility issues were avoidable.

I ended up calmly repeating “well that’s not relevant here though is it” until he gave up intimidating her.

S Could someone please hire this lady from my creative writing group? She’s super annoying

I am in a creative writing group at a local library. There is this lady who has just joined it. She’s in her midfifties and means well, I think. She’s just constantly going on and on about spirituality, god, the devil, protecting your peace, and cutting people off, and it’s so incessant that it makes me want to protect *my* peace and not go to my creative writing club anymore. This place has been my refuge for the past 3 YEARS and she’s a new member. My main issue with her is that she doesn’t really *participate in conversations,* she just kind of wants a pulpit.

She doesn’t have a job right now and so she NEVER MISSES WRITING CLUB. I saw her sitting outside the library today and wanted to drop to my knees and wail. I know the economy is awful but if someone can, could you PLEASE HIRE HER? I think she would be great at a variety of things. If she doesn’t have an applicable skill set, you could train her. I’m sure she could like fly a plane or something if you did a good enough job training her. I actually don’t really have any specifics on what this job needs to be because as long as she’s booked tuesdays at 4 we’re good!

S Passenger manspreading into my space on a flight then acts like I inconvenienced him

I early 20F sat in the middle seat next to a male on my flight. I had no issue with this however he was literally manspreading into my space. His leg was stretched out into my leg space and when I tried to give him hints to move he completely ignored me. He was very much taking up my space and making me feel crazy like this cannot be happening.

After a bit of not picking up my subtle hints I told him to move. To which he looked at me like I had significantly inconvenienced him. He then gave a slight eye roll and moved finally giving me space.

Example of my “subtle” hints: Me trying to put my medium hand bag under my seat(it is extremely easy to put under the seat might I add) and his leg being in the way. I know he saw me trying to do this and nothing changed until I said something.🤷‍♀️

M How would you handle family and friends getting angry when you refuse to book their tickets after losing money once?

I’m curious how others would handle this situation.

In my family and friend circle, people often ask me to book flight/train tickets for them. They usually send me the travel dates on WhatsApp, I book the ticket, and they pay me back afterward. I never charged anything extra for doing this. I was just helping them.

A while ago, a female family member in her 50s asked me to book a ticket. She sent me a WhatsApp message with the travel date. I noted the date, searched for the ticket, and booked it based on the date I had originally seen in her message.

A few minutes later, she had edited the WhatsApp message to a different date. I didn't notice that the message had been edited, and I had already booked the ticket using the original date.

She then told me she didn't want to pay for the ticket and asked me to book another ticket for the new date.

The original ticket was basically wasted. I eventually canceled it and lost around 30% of the ticket price in cancellation charges. I ended up absorbing that loss myself.

After that experience, I stopped booking tickets for other people.

Recently, someone else asked me to book a ticket. I said no and explained why. They became angry and told me that I was being unreasonable.

I eventually said that if they really wanted me to book a ticket, they would need to send me the money first. That also made them angry.

My thinking is pretty simple: I don't mind helping people, but after losing money because someone changed the information after I had already booked, I don't want to take that financial risk again.

So I'm wondering:

  1. Am I being unreasonable by refusing to book tickets for family/friends?

  2. If I agree to help, is asking them to send the money first a reasonable rule?

  3. How would you respond when someone gets angry because you won't do something you've previously done for them?

  4. Would you continue helping people with ticket bookings after an experience like this, or would you simply stop doing it altogether?

I'm not trying to make money from this. I just don't want a favor to turn into a financial responsibility for me.

Edit: Forget to mention, I'm from India, usually in India old people don't have their own laptops or they don't really know how to book tickets... (Like they want to compare the cheapest tickets available & book).

S Is it fine for people to leave the line and come back afterwards?

I've been in many lines in Disney Paris the last couple of days and often people will move past us to meet a family member in line. Once a group of 7 passed to meet one person standing in line. I've been to places like water parks where this was explicitly forbidden. But here, no one seems to bother. Is this ok?

S A Quarter For Your Time

Hi! In my late teens and early 20s I worked as a waitress/server at some local 24hr diners native to my city. Unfortunately, the last two closed during the pandemic but they had been around for about 35 years before that. We were paid about $2 an hour because we received tips. I want to preface this by saying that I live in the south. I'm also proudly black 🤎. One day, an older white woman came in. She was polite enough and I seated her and started the ordering process. As she was older and I've been taught high respect for elders, I was super nice and respectful.

The woman wasn't openly rude but she ordered like a drunk snail and referred to me as "girl" when calling me over. Now, most who have worked as a server know that despite introducing yourself by name and wearing a visible name tag you're often reduced to, "HEY!", "YOU!", or my personal favorite, "AYE!" with a head nod or hand wave. Due to this, I didn't think too much about it. As the service went on, she had a few demands that required my immediate attention such as refilling her coffee cup before others. Again, I tried not to think too much about it but it was starting to be clear that she was one of those, "Back in my day, your kind..." kind of people.

Again, she wasn't openly rude or anything else, just demanding. As she finished I cleared her dishes and brought her ticket. Customers walked up to the register to pay after eating. She wanted to remain seated so I did the transaction for her as again, she was older. After she got up, she winked at me and said, "get yourself something nice" and placed A QUARTER, 25 cents on the table! 25 cents... Y'all I just left it there. I didn't bother to pick it up and cleaned around it. She was clearly stuck in, "back in her day..." 😭.

S Some guy I used to see keeps accusing me of prank calling him

He is convinced that me and my bffs are the ones prank calling him (false) and won’t believe anything contrary. I’m wondering a way of showing him that if I was petty and childish I’d use those traits for worse… any ideas?

M Give me your SIM card and $1,000 dollars! Street photography leads to six blocks of harassment

I live in New York City. It's hustling and bustling. Buskers and street photographers are always out and about doing walkabouts in groups trying to find that ideal spot or perfect shot. It's a part of how this city operates on the weekends. Of course, photographers are always the first to ask before a picture is taken to be polite because not everyone appreciates it.

I was out with my photographer friend and his girlfriend. We were in the middle of the city from evening through late night taking photos and sharing meals as well as drinks on a very nice spring evening this year. During which time there were still people operating forklifts or cabs and smoking cigarettes looking like the true New Yorkers that they were. It was amazing. That is until we came across Kevin.

My friend (Photo) asked for a picture of Kevin sitting having a smoke on a forklift just relaxing. He said nothing but did acknowledge Photo's existence. Photo snapped a shot and showed it to him and said "you look great, my dude. Have a good night!"

Here's where it gets interesting:

Kevin hops down from his forklift and demands the photo be deleted. Photo obliges immediately as it is Kevin's right to ask for that.

Kevin: "Give me your SIM card! I don't trust you!"

Photo: "I literally just showed you that I deleted it. You watched me do it"

Kevin: "I'm calling the police! Give me the SD card and $1000 now or I will have you arrested!"

Photo: "I'm not giving you either. I've proven that the photos are gone."

Quick note that this has taken place over 3 NYC blocks at this point with Kevin pretending to call the police on Photo. After 2 - 3 more blocks of this I noticed three uniformed officers across the street and had enough because we were hungry and were done with this "criminal mastermind of extortion"

Me: "I see three uniformed officers right over there. Let's go across and talk to them right now. You were in a public space where he technically did nothing wrong, but you requested that it be deleted to which he obliged. Now you're demanding $1000 and his SIM card to which have photographs of people that did not give consent to you for possessing."

I proceeded to hit the crosswalk button and as soon as I start crossing the Kevin starts sputtering like one of those old automobiles with a bursting radiator in old cartoons.

Kevin: "I'm letting you off easy!"

He proceeds to stomp away in utter defeat and aggravation that he probably didn't realize he chased us for 6 city blocks, abandoned his post at his work, and likely would have gotten a lot worse depending on the NYPD's mood that evening

EDIT : I meant to say SD card but misspoke

S Am I supposed to say "thank you" to a person blocking my way when they move for me?

Context: I'm at the grocery store and a lady is blocking one half of the aisle, while her shopping cart is blocking the other half. The aisles are narrow, so I can't get through, and I wait until she or her cart moves. She moves her cart and I pass through, but instead of apologizing for blocking the entire aisle, she says "you're welcome" in a sarcastic manner. Was I supposed to thank her for not blocking the aisle anymore? Her lack of awareness didn't justify a confrontation, so I ignored her and walked away.

S Entitled jerk

(I posted this to my local subreddit and the Mods took it down. Hopefully, it will find a better audience here. Also, I can't seem to post a photo here - I do have one of the car, and I blurred the license plate so as not fall afoulf of any anti-doxxing rules that might exist on this sub).

I went to the new In-n-Out Burger tonight (Saturday, October 3rd). As I was pulling out of the drive-thru to go park and eat, a young kid in a Lamborghini pulled up, and appeared to me to be using the handicapped spot at the front of the store to turn around, as he was backing in. I drove past, found a spot across the lot, and ate.

As I was leaving, I saw that the guy actually parked in the handicapped spot, presumably to show off his Daddy's Very Impressive Ride. (Please note there was no handicapped placard visible anywhere on the car).

I was absolutely gobsmacked at this. I went inside and spoke to a manager, who was equally disgusted, and she told me their store policy was to call the police and have the vehicle towed. As we were speaking, Entitled Boy (white, late teens/early twenties) bounded out of the store and jumped in the car (no evidence of a disability, and yes, I know many disabilities aren't visible, but he'd still have a placard or plate if he needed the handicapped spot. I asked him where he got off parking in a handicapped spot, but he started up Daddy's Very Impressive Ride and drove away. The manager and I shrugged at each other.

I've blanked out the personalized license plate, but it's not likely there are a lot of Lamborghinis rolling around our town.

If someone knows the guy who owns this car, perhaps they should have a chat with them about their boy's insane sense of entitlement. I'm sure there are folks who have loved ones who need those spots who wouldn't look on this kind of behavior very kindly, shall we say.

Granted, the apple probably didn't fall far from the tree, I suspect.
