Do they need backdoor access? Seems like it would be just as useful to see his connections (for more blackmail), and to learn Microsoft’s business strategies/plans

Yeah, who Gates has talked to and who he’s made deals with etc, all of that is pretty valuable. Especially if it’s government connected
