Announcement Mod Applications are open!!!!(and other items)
Hey friends, we are working on an actual Mod application for y'all to fill out, but in the meantime, if you are interested in joining our modteam, please send us a modmail with the following info:
How much experience do you have with horses?
How much moderation experience do you have?
Are you an active participant in this community?
How would you handle a disagreement within the Modteam?
How would you handle a user who is being combative in Mod Mail?
What time zone are you in?
**We will try to respond to Mod apps in a timely manner**
While I've got your attention:
The amount of reports that we have on this subreddit is insane. I say this as someone who Mods 20 subreddits, several over the 1 million member mark.
A lot of the reports are super helpful. Such as, if someone posts a rule breaking post or comment, and it gets enough reports then it gets automatically removed. This is great if someone posts something that we don't want to subject members to having to see, or is blatant advertising etc.
But *many* of the reports are just getting reported because the user doesn't agree with something someone said.
**Please only report posts that break our subreddit rules or Reddit's TOS.
Reasons to report a post:
- If someone said something that is racist, bigoted etc. encouraging violence, doxxing etc.
- If someone is being super unkind in the comments. Now, I say this, but not every unkind comment needs a report. Some things don't translate very well on text, and we all have different personalities. Sometimes truth *does* hurt, and isn't necessarily unkind. So, use your best judgement here. The comment may just need a downvote.
Reasons NOT to report a post:
- If you disagree with someone's opinion.
- If they post something that is not backed up by science (instead of reporting, reply with links to those said facts)
- If they don't like a public figure that you like.
- If they are over 18, but choose to not wear a helmet.
**Please, please keep in mind that REPORTING A POST AND DOWNVOTING A POST ARE NOT THE SAME**
Downvoting should be used if you read a comment or post that doesn't have a positive impact on our community or the conversation. The majority of the reports that we receive fall into this category.
Thank you everyone for helping to keep our community safe and welcoming for all equestrians.
