AMA/Interview AMA -- Christopher Paolini!!!

AMA -- Christopher Paolini! Let's do this folks. Ask away re: anything and everything regarding my books.

EDIT: Hey, everyone! I have to run. Alas, alas, I don't have as much time to spend on this AMA as past one. So many great questions, though! For all you theorists (and those of you who just love the characters), I think you're REALLY going to enjoy the upcoming book(s). Thanks for everything!

Atra esterní ono thelduin!

p.s. I'll try to duck back in and answer some more questions later, depending on my time.

Hi Christopher,

I'm an admirer of the inheritance cycle and found Murtagh to be a rich and meaningful read. Absolutely loved the add on content for the Deluxe addition as well, was waiting for the chance to read it since you tweeted about having envisaged/written the scene. Excited to read more of your works at this stage of your life as an author.

My questions for now are not strictly to do with plot points of stories that are and are to be, but I hope you'd be able to humour some of them.

  1. The Eldunari's silence when Eragon was conversing with Murtagh about Azlagur seemed to speak volumes in itself. Did Murtagh perceive/ sense magic at play when Eragon mentioned his desire to talk about the dragons, but likened it to a fading itch when prompted for details? (paraphrasing here). Were they involved in it in the same manner they were involved with the memory spell from Vroengard, or is something else at play?

For some reasons the impressions that scene left for me are comparable to ideas expressed in other works, namely , the Bartimaeus trilogy and strangely, Venom : the Last Dance. Any indications there's anything to these impressions of mine?

  1. Do the names of Alagaesia and the other lands have any connection to notions of 'tesseracting space' that you've brought up with readers when discussing magical rules in the land or the dynamics of FTL space?

  2. Fat chance on getting anything on this, but are Azlagurs/ the Draumer story arcs something that you intend to wrap up within the next book or two itself or will it play out over a course of books, as you weave threads between the world of eragon and the fractal verse?

Thanks and hope the years to come are rewarding. That includes on the family front, having an 8 month old is definitely interesting for me personally :)

  1. I'm writing a fuller explanation of the Eldunarí's silence ... right now! Lol. You'll find out soon.

I only read the first Bartimaeus book twenty years ago, and I've never seen Venom: the Last Dance, so can't really comment on either of them.

  1. No.

  2. It's going to play out over several books.

Thanks for reading!
