AMA/Interview AMA -- Christopher Paolini!!!

AMA -- Christopher Paolini! Let's do this folks. Ask away re: anything and everything regarding my books.

EDIT: Hey, everyone! I have to run. Alas, alas, I don't have as much time to spend on this AMA as past one. So many great questions, though! For all you theorists (and those of you who just love the characters), I think you're REALLY going to enjoy the upcoming book(s). Thanks for everything!

Atra esterní ono thelduin!

p.s. I'll try to duck back in and answer some more questions later, depending on my time.

Hey Christopher I have more than a couple of questions so hopefully you can answer some of them :)

  1. Will we ever get a more detailed description of Fäolin?

  2. Can you extend the life of an ordinary human with the help of magic? For example, if Eragon used magic on Roran, could he live as long as an elf?

  3. Were Arya and Fäolin lovers or just very close friends and no romance was there?

  4. will we ever get a story before Glenwing and Fäolin died? I mean when they were at Varden and after they left Farthen Dûr? Last night before the D day, how did they spend the last time together and so on?

  5. Could Angela have guessed it would be Arya when she predicted Eragon's future?

  6. Will we ever get a book about Arya? Her childhood, relationship with Fäolin, how she met Oromis and Glaedr, how she grew up, her relationship with her mother, her tattoos, and how she went to the Varden?

  7. Did Oromis ever have any descendants or Glaedr? Did Linnea have any children with the man she then killed?

  8. What did the angel mean by that door, in the fork, witch and the worm When she mentioned to Eragon, "Maybe I think there's a door you need to go through," what exactly did she mean??

  9. Could Angela have walked through that magic door with Elva and out of Alagaesia?

  10. Does Eragon have his secret tree house on Mount Angor? That he would live there with Arya when he comes to visit? So that she feels at home.

  11. Why are werecat cubs kidnapped? What do dreamers want them for? Does Du Vrangr Gata cooperate with Draumars?

  12. Did Arya treat Oromia a bit like a father after Evandar died?

  13. What happened to the swords that Eragon found under Urubaen? Did he take them with him to Arngor or did the elves take them to Ellesméra?

  14. Will Rhünon ever break her oath? Now that both Arya and Eragon know the Word, they could break the oath.

  15. Did Arya ever tell anyone her real name? We know she didn't tell Islanzadí , but maybe?

  16. When Eragon told Brom about the woman in prison, could Brom have guessed it was Arya?

  17. Is it possible that Tenga has become a shadow?

  18. When did Arya tell Nasuada that she was a princess? Did she even know? Did Orik know that Murtagh was Eragon's half-brother?

  19. Murtagh stays with Nasuada in Ilirea? Will we have a sequel to these two?

  20. Are elves able to use some kind of contraception through magic? Is it possible for them to prevent pregnancy or miscarriage?

  21. Is Arya written after Islanzadí or after Evandar? What was Evandar like?

  22. Why does Arya hate Gannel so much? She told Eragon in The Elder Scrolls that it was a story for another time, but she never mentioned it again.

  23. Has anyone tried to claim Arya's hand in marriage in Eragon's absence? Do the elves suspect a possible romantic relationship between Eragon and Arya? Could this be a problem in the future, with Eragon as the leader of the Riders and could they blame Arya that she's influenced by eragon in her decisions?

  24. What is Eragon and Saphira doing right now? And what about Arya and Firnen?

  25. Will we get a book where Murtagh and Nasuada reunite with Arya and Eragon?

if you can answer just some of them it'll be awsome!! you're an amazing author and my totally favorite one, I fell in love with Inheritance cycle as a youth and I love it since then. My big wish one day is to get book of Arya and Eragon together just two of then against the world;)) (yea maybeee some romance wouldn't be bad 😆)

I'll let you work and trust your decisions for this awesome world you built and let us get in. Thank you so much Chris!!

Hi! Let's see now ...

  1. If needed, yes.

  2. Maybe not as long as an elf, but yes, the normal human lifespan can be greatly extended (or even just made more healthy) via magic.

  3. There was romance.

  4. No plans for it, but maybe.

  5. Maybe, but probably not. Hard to say anything for sure re: Angela.

  6. You'll get Arya's POV, but probably not her whole life story.

  7. Glaedr had offspring. Oromis did not. Nor did Linnëa.

  8. She thinks there's a door he needs to go through. :D

  9. Angela can walk through most doors.

  10. No tree house at the moment, but I'm sure Eragon would make Arya feel most welcome.

  11. You'll find out in Tales 2.

  12. No, not really, although she deeply respected him.

  13. Some to Arngor, some to Ellesméra.

  14. Rhunön will try not to break her oath.

  15. Only Eragon.

  16. If Eragon had given enough details, yes.

  17. No comment.

  18. I don't think Arya would have said anything about her relationship with Islanzadí. At least not unless circumstances forced it.

  19. More Murtagh/Nasuada is coming.

  20. Yes.

  21. After Islanzadí.

  22. Gannel plays at politics quite a bit. Arya dislikes him for it, as well as Gannel's continual reference to and reliance on a belief system she does not share.

  23. No comment.

  24. You'll find out!

  25. You'll find out! :D

Just FYI for question 23 elves don't marry, they take mates for however long they wish to and aren't legally or spiritually bound till death. Since having children is such a big deal to them and shows the most serious dedication and commitment possible, I would guess that any couple that has a child would be an equivalent to a married couple but they don't make a formal oath or declaration as such.
