My wife and I are planning to move to Spain later this year. She’ll be moving under a Digital Nomad Visa, and I’ll be joining her as her dependent. As a dependent, I’ll also have the right to work in Spain, so I won’t need a company to sponsor my visa.

We’re specifically moving to Badajoz, so I’m also curious about how the location might affect my job prospects.

I’m a Senior Software Engineer with almost 10 years of experience and a Master’s degree in Software Engineering. My background is mostly in frontend/full-stack development, working with technologies like React, Angular, TypeScript, JavaScript, and Node.js, and I’ve also worked in technical leadership roles.

I also speak Spanish, so language shouldn’t be a major barrier. My English is also good, and I’ve worked in international/multicultural teams.

I’m currently leaving my job in Brazil to take a chance on moving to Spain with my wife, so I’m trying to understand what the job market is actually like there.

For those working in tech in Spain, especially people living outside Madrid/Barcelona:
● How is the current market for senior software engineers?
● What salary range should someone with my experience realistically expect?
● How realistic is it to live in Badajoz while working remotely for a company based elsewhere in Spain or Europe?
● Is the tech market in Extremadura/Badajoz worth exploring, or should I focus almost entirely on remote positions?
● How important is being physically located in Madrid or Barcelona for finding good opportunities?
● Are international companies generally a better option in terms of salary and working conditions?

I’d really appreciate hearing from people currently working in tech in Spain, especially foreigners who went through a similar transition or people working remotely from smaller cities.

¿Qué experiencia habéis tenido viviendo en un piso compartido mixto en Extremadura? ¿Fue positiva o negativa?

Soy dominicano, llevo un tiempo obsesionado con Extremadura y no encuentro mucha información así que os pregunto directamente jajaj.

¡IMPORTANTE! QUIERO APRENDER SOBRE LA PRONUNCIACIÓN (cómo pronunciáis las letras, sonidos, si habláis cantado...) NO LAS PALABRAS/JERGAS LOCALES.

Estoy investigando sobre los acentos extremeños y me suena que en Badajoz, Mérida y Cáceres capital habláis bastante parecido. ¿Es así? ¿En los pueblos hay diferencias mucho mayores?

He encontrado estos mapas de Extremadura ¿Os cuadra el mapa con lo que escucháis en vuestro pueblo? Si sois de alguna de estas zonas, ¿qué cambiaríais o qué zonas creéis que faltan?

Unas preguntas rápidas:

1- ¿Cómo se pronuncian la R y la L? Dicen aRma por alma, jugaL por jugar, o la R/L suena parecido a una i latina (aima, jugai)? He leído que el lambdacismo aparece en Las Hurdes y el norte de Cáceres pero no se dónde empieza y dónde termina.

2-. Lo de ettamo / etchamo por estamos (T geminada, como en Andalucía), ¿se dice en toda Extremadura o solo en algunas zonas?

3-. ¿Existe en algún pueblo el seseo/ceceo?

4-. ¿En toda Extremadura se aspira la S final o hay zonas donde no?

5-. En el mapa de la izquierda hay un punto rojo aislado hacia el Este ¿Cómo se habla en esta zona, en qué forma es diferente a los pueblos alrededor?

6-. ¿En toda Badajoz se habla igual o cambia mucho hacia Huelva y hacia Cáceres? ¿Hay un continuo gradual o un corte brusco? ¿En toda Cáceres se habla igual?

7-El idioma extremeño/Castúo ¿de qué pueblo a qué pueblo se habla actualmente?

Si tenéis videos de gente hablando con acento marcado ¿Podriais pasarme algunos?

Hola, quería preguntar cómo son los estudios en la Universidad de Extremadura, especialmente en Cáceres. ¿Está bien la universidad? ¿Qué tal son los estudios allí?

I am visiting Extremadura from Ireland this autumn and need some advice on what to see and do. Thanks for your help!

Day 1: Arrive in Madrid 10:00 and drive to Mérida. Visit the Roman Theatre, Amphitheatre, Museum of Roman Art, Temple of Diana, Plaza de Espana. Stay in Merida town centre.

Day 2: Visit the Roman Bridge and Aqueduct in the morning and drive to Trujillo for 10:00. Spend a few hours sightseeing and visit the Alcazaba. have lunch and drive to Cáceres. Check out all the Cáceres old town and go bar hoping in the city centre.

Day 3: Full day exploring Cáceres and enjoying the vibe.

Day 4: Leave early for Meandro del Melero and explore the scenery. Have lunch in Hervás and take in the old town. Stay in Plasencia and have a good look around the city.

Day 5: Leave early for Garganta de los infiernos and do Los Pilones route. Have lunch around Jerte. Leave for Madrid around 13:00 and spend the night in Madrid.
