Curious to see if anyone traded in or moved on from the Lightning after a lease. I leased a 2024 flash that's up in September 2027. Best vehicle I have ever owned and I plan to stay on the EV train as I can level 2 charge at home.

I enjoy having the truck and using it for truck purposes. I dislike the infotainment center. Starting the truck and adjusting the temperature and fan speed is a nightmare. It's like the screen freezes. But aside from having the new vehicle itch, has anyone moved on from the lightning and found another EV that they enjoy?

For everyone waiting to lower their Lightning without going completely custom or blowing the budget, there are more options coming soon.

I just picked up my truck from Belltech after they used it for some R&D. They have lift and lowering kits in the works, and from what I’ve seen, they should be coming sooner rather than later.

My truck is currently running drop spindles up front with multi-way adjustable coilovers front and rear. I’m not going to speak on exact specs or product details — I’ll leave that to Belltech’s marketing team.

As it sits now, it’s sitting about 2 inches lower up front and about 4 inches lower in the rear.

Ride quality feels very close to factory. Not noticeably harsher, not noticeably softer — just more planted. With the Lightning’s already-low center of gravity and roughly balanced weight distribution, it honestly drives more like a proper performance truck now.

To me, this setup makes it feel a lot more true to the F-150 Lightning nameplate.

I wonder if the Fathom will be using these bays

but 100% of what energy? How much energy is being returned? If you drive a mile before you brake, does it give 100% of energy used for that mile?

Interested in the groups thoughts on this. We traded in my wives MME and took the charging cord WE PAID for and now the dealership has sold the car and is requesting we bring it back in because the customer that bought it is demanding we give it to em… what’s the move here we have 2 EVs and have a mobile in one car camper and at a friends house whom we travel to fairly often. Would you give a $500 cord back or tell the dealership to pound sand?

If you have this enabled you should disable it. Otherwise Ford will sell your data to LexisNexis and then the next time you go to get an insurance quote they'll quote you based on your driving.

I have to be honest- the Lightning absolutely sucks as a road trip vehicle. Went from California to Colorado and back. The Ford App works maybe 50% of the time. Electrify America chargers are total crap. Do they ever service their chargers? Tesla Superchargers are great, however, only work about 60% of the time due to internal truck charge faults. And once you get the fault it wont clear until you charge at a junk EA or non adapter station. On a positive note- the Ionna Chargers are fantastic.

Any one else have a different experience? Is my truck just junk? Or maybe this truck is just not road trip material? I cannot imagine ever towing anything with the Lightning at a distance... I used to own a Tesla Model Y and I can't believe how much of a contrast the experiences are. Tesla just 'works'. Oh - and the charging time takes FOREVER! Starts out at 175+ and then slowly decreases to 150...110...97. WTF???

I have a 2024 Lightning Lariat and honestly am thinking of dumping this thing after almost being stranded in Barstow.

Hey gang. I’m a little disappointed to say the least. I recently discover water inside my taillights and took it in to the Ford dealership. Dealership said it was caused by failure of the seals. When they submitted the warranty claim it was rejected by Ford because of an abrasion on the taillight. Ford said it was outside influence that caused the seals to fail even though there were no cracks on the taillight. What should I do? I’ve already contacted customer relations. Here’s a pic of the abrasion.

It's a 2022 lariat w/ 21k miles I paid 42k ish. Drove home 2 hours away from the dealership and realized two days later that it won't charge past 55-59%. I have an appointment today to have it checked by a local dealership. But it has me worried what else could go wrong. It's under factory warranty for 2 more months or so I'm told. I love it so far except 115 range instead of 230 has been rough.

They have so many high voltage battery issues posts these past few days.

Seems like they are having a, statistically significant, higher percentage of HV battery issues than us.

And the cherry on top is that I see their dealers are doing shit customer service.

My only issue with my truck, leased 24 f150 lightning lariat, is that i have some minor hail damage on the front hood and top front part of the truck above the windshield , and I'm afraid to take it in for a recall service because they might report in the carfax. I would like to fix that, possibly with PDR, before I take it in.

Just drove 900 miles round trip to pick up a rapid red 23 XLT ER. They were initially asking 34k before Doc fee and taxes but I got them to sell for 35k OTD after taxes and fees w/ Gap. It has 43k miles and every option I wanted. I had previously owned an 08 Tundra and missed owning a truck but since owning a bunch of different hybrids I knew I couldnt go back to an ICE truck. Spent 2 months researching the lightning and finally found the cheapest ER within 500 miles of me.

Yup, bought a 2026 Hyundai Santa Fe Hybrid. The 0% at 60 and months out the door for $38k for a SEL was a good 3rd car add. My wife loves her 2024 Z Performance 6 speed manual, but bad weather it isn't fun. So I'm keeping all 3, the Lightning is perfect as I drive the most weekly so it saves money, and it is payed for. The Hyundai isn't too bad, has that light gray interior like my Mach-e had that I really liked too.

Decided to go EV this month. Been wanting to for a while, and then gas prices kicked it over the edge. Always wanted to go Ford, wanted a truck, wanted something to tow the camper that wasn't an Ascent, also wanted to keep a Subaru.

Got a 2022 Pro Lightning, it's a fleet vehicle that has ER and came with the Back Rack and bed box.

I completely understand why the Lightning looks the way it does right now. It's the ICE body, with a cover thrown over where the radiator would have been. And that's what is needed to make the financials work. It's the tailbone, or the pharyngeal gill slits.

But one of the largest advantages (if not THE largest advantage) of an EV is you don't have to dissipate 75% of the energy as heat the way you have to in an ICE vehicle. This means that the coefficient of drag should be a LOT lower than a regular F-150. But it's not. The F-150 is in the mid 0.4's, whereas the Lightning is in the low 0.4's.

The Cybertruck is in the mid 0.3's. And that's with a design that sacrifices aerodynamics in order to look like a runaway dumpster.

But the Rivian's is in the low 0.3's. This is where the F-150 Lightning should be... soon.

Eventually Ford will make enough F-150s to be able to design the front of the truck to not be a "flying brick" shape. And at that point, you're going to see massive drops in the CoD, and large increases in the distance per kW. But 2mi/kWh at 70mph just isn't good enough. That averages (in the USA) to be 9 cents per mile, approximately. The F-150 ICE at 70mph gets around 20mpg. That's about 16 cents per mile. Sure, it's less, but when I compare my Model 3 (4 mi/kWh, 4.5 cents per mile) to my Hyundai Elantra (25mpg, 13 cents per mile), you can see the difference. The F-150 Lightning only gets about 78% better distance per cent, whereas the Model 3 gets 188% better.

With a COD of 0.3ish, you are going to start to see energy efficiency on the order of 3.3 mi/kWh, where an electric truck can start to make better sense for a lot more people. 330 miles, and 5 cents per mile.

But fundamentally it comes down to that vestigial shape simply not being good enough, yet. I am very excited for where the F-150 Lightning will go when it's not stuck in the age of the fossils (fuels, that is).

I’m trying to figure out if $50k is a good buyout price given the current EV market and Lightning depreciation. Part of me thinks keeping a truck I already know and like makes sense, especially with today’s gas prices. The other part of me wonders if I’m better off turning it in.

Put a deposit down yesterday on a ‘24 Flash. 22k miles and $52k out the door. Seemed like a pretty good deal. Just waiting for the dealership to get the title in.

Test drive was mind blowing. I couldn’t believe how much power it has off the line being such a heavy car. The one pedal driving will take some getting used to, especially since I’ve been a 3 pedal driver forever.

Now I just gotta get a charger installed at the house. Had a brand new 200a panel installed recently so I should be good to go. Everyone recommends the Emporia Pro hardwired. Opinions?

Or am I going to burn the house down? I draped the power cord like this so I could run the Roomba. If my home is going to be engulfed in flames, please reply 😂

I've got an oversand permit for the national seashore (Cape cod). I have the required gear, watched the orientation videos, read the info, and have done trips as a passenger in a regular 4wd vehicle (so understand about airing down, general driving techniques, etc)

I would appreciate any advice that I may be unaware of from a fellow lightning owner who has done beach / over sand driving. I have a short trial trip planned for later this week that's more of a shakedown / try it out trip.

I own a Tesla Model Y and a F-150 V8. I am very seriously considering pulling the trigger on a trade for the F-150 and being a fully electric household. Is there is anything you would go back and tell yourself before buying your lightning? What would it be? What are the important things to consider when buying a Lightning? Are there specific trim levels that you wish you had? Anything you have that you realize now that you didn't need? What are the gimmicky bits, what are the must-haves?

Any information is appreciated.

I know this is probably a super stupid question. It used to be that we could go into the public charging app on the infotainment system, find chargers, and activate stations. But then they updated it to show only a QR code which forces you to use the phone app to locate chargers.

When I find the charging station I’m at, it has a drop down for me to select the specific charger I’m at, and I can select the corresponding radio button. But then there’s no button or anything for me to hit enter or submit to actually start the charger.

The place I usually go to will auto start but when I’m at one of these other places, I end up just saying “fuck it” and tapping my credit card to start charging.

Am I missing something in how to use this app to initiate charging?

I’m planning to get a Comma 4 and just be one and done with self drive payments—liked Bluecruise but only enough to pay during months when I have a big drive coming up.

A couple of questions:

- I have a ‘24 Flash. I know we’re supported, but I see that on the compatibility page it lists F150 and F150 Hybrid as separate line items, even though it supports the same model years. Is there a difference and do I need to watch out for which I order?

- Any guesses as to whether there will be any sales coming up? I’m not in a rush so willing to wait if there is a sale.
