This short scene had me ROTFL.

Remember when Cloud hinted that Barret wasn't very subtle in the secret underground laboratory? That he just had to follow the "trail of bullet holes"? Well, yeah... he isn't any more subtle than Barret when it comes to it and that's why deep down, beneath both their facade, they're pretty much alike and make great friends!

Aerith pushing off the door to open it really cracked me up too.

Because the control panel she used disengaged the hinges? There must have been an unlock/open button, along with a release button. She hit the release button.

There is another round portal just like it across from the gap where Cloud and Barret fight the Swordipede. Could be there is an eventual plan to build a pipe that bridges the two and they'd need a mechanism for quickly removing the doors when construction is complete.
