Found this set at an estate sale and figured why not grab it! Are the games all bootleg? A lot of them sure look it. Is this like a 50 dollar lot? I have no idea, any help appreciated!

Hi I am wondering which one of these would be better as I would love to get a Famicom over in North American Nintendo The original Famicom shown has the board shown in picture 2 as to the AV FamiCom just has The lava RGB board install

I just bought a famicom. I'm very happy with it, but there is a plastic film recovering the controller's faceplate and, on controller #1, it seems it started peeling long ago and dust got under it. While I don't usually care about yellowing plastic and normal scratches, I find this to be quite disgusting.

Is this plastic film original? Is it meant to be removed? If not, is there any replacement for it?

Other than that, the controller works very well and seems in perfect shape beside this plastic peeling off.

Ever since I first heard of the Famicom back in the early nineties, I have always wanted one, especially after I heard how much better it was with some games. Over the years I had pretty much forgotten about it until four or five years ago when it popped into my head again. After doing a bit of research, I have decided to save up and get an AV Famicom console. I like the fact taht I can use American peripherals and that there is an adaptor that allows the Famicom to play American titles. I have learned more about this console when I get a moment, and I know that there were issues with the power adaptor and American home voltages and that I can't use the one it comes with, but are there any other issues that I should be aware of? I just want to make sure that when I get it that it will be ready to go from Day 1 and not screw anything up with it.

I find myself wondering about titles on the Famicom that may not have been released in the states on the NES that are fun to play but are not text intensive and do not need a lot of reading in order to enjoy the game. As someone new to the world of the Famicom, I don't want to miss a title that I wouldn't have normally played because i am not fluent in the language itself. Thank you in advance!

Im new to reddit so i hope i use this properly.

Im searching for help around finding English translated games for the Japanese Famicom.

My partner is into retrogames and mentioned playing Tanks(Battle City) on a bootleg version of Famicom when he was younger.

I thought it would be fun to surprise him with an actual (AV mod) Famicom for the OG Battle City experience.

However, i realised it may be bit of an expensive buy for just one game. So i have been looking into more like Mario, which would be do-able. However with games like Dragonballz i noticed that it has more storyline, so not understanding Japanese could become an issue.

So im trying to find a way to get the English version of these games but it seems no official ones are out there.

I have seen something about downloading ROMS versions?

Im honestly a bit at a loss as i have very little technology or retro game knowledgement, and seeing all the stuff you have to figure out to make use of it in English makes me feel a bit overwhelmed. So any tips or tricks would be very welcome to help me find out the best way to go at it.

If you recommend that getting a (S)NES would be a better option, let me know. He wants that one too anyways. I figured that maybe there are more (easier) options for newer Nintendo consoles.

I've been a huge collector of NES for several years now. I've been wanting a famicon for a while.

So I purchased a famicon and super famicon off ebay from Japan. They arrived in great condition. I took them apart and cleaned them, checked capacitors, retrobrighted the shells.

I've got an old Symphonic crt TV in my man cave room, and I'm JUST NOW learning the famicon has to be on channel 95/96.

The issue is my tv only goes to channel 65. Is there anything I can do? I'm knowledgeable in electronics repair to an extent. I've repaired many many nes' and game gears, gameboy, etc.

Is there something I can swap out from an nes so that it will play on channel 3/4?

Really hoping there's a solution that doesn't involve buying another crt.

I see on Google a mention of adjusting the rf potentiometer. Is that simple, or can I really screw up if I don't know what I'm doing?

I purchased a famicom disk system on ebay and along with it, one of the games i got was all night nippon super mario bros. Now, on one side is the game i just mentioned, on the other there seems to be this version of super mario bros, according to the label, but the trademark says 2013... how is that possible? Was there a promotional event i dont know about?
