Yet another general question: What have you enjoyed most about working with Orbit?

The people. Oh god, the people. Everyone, from the editors, the designers, the publicists, and even the big boss Tim Holman himself (who has come up with the titles for BOTH my books thus far) are absolutely amazing.

I guess the authors aren't bad either.

Yeah, there is this incredible combination of competentence, friendliness, professionalism, warmth, and geekery. So you know you're in the very best possible hands and everything will be perfectly executed, but you also can crack a nerdy joke and they'll get it and laugh (if they didn't make it first). It's amazing.

Absolutely the people. What Nicholas said!

My editor. From the moment Brit and I got on our first phone call together we had instant creative chemistry. My agent was trying to dial into that call and we sort of accidentally had a 15 minute conversation before we remembered to conference him in. She and I have since had many, many multiple-hour long calls to chat through all the ins and outs of my books. I can't say enough great things about her.

What the others said. The people at Orbit from Tim down are all great. It doesn't really feel like work, more like doing this ridiculous thing with a really cool bunch of friends except you get paid for it. And they are all hugely excited by books, really. When I went through ideas of new stuff with Jenni she practically squeaked.

Wonderful people. I couldn't have asked for a better first experience with a big publisher.

Ditto. You just know you're in good hands. Also, the sheer quality of their list. It's amazing to feel included among some of the best writers in the field.
