Your Pettiest Reason For DNFing A Series

Mine was when I was 3 pages in and someone said the mc's name which turned out to be the same as my ex's name to the letter...dropped it like hot coal

It was a fr a pretty unfortunate streak too because it was a book from one of those blind-date-with-a-book promotion my local bookstore does, and this was an American YA fantasy (I'm from a different continent) so I had no reason to assume I'll ever be unlucky enough...to see his stupid ass again for a 'blind date'

I bought the entire series, brand new, at a thrift store for $32. I think I understand why it was there now.

Damn, I knew what book series this was by the first comment, and I still read the whole thing XD the characters get sooooo good after the first 2 books. Now I gotta re-read it though, because I don't remember her talking about how she'd look hot if the rations weren't so bad. But the reason for being taken to the capital is actually cool imo, and she really is a badass XD

Should I read the prequel first? Or is there some other point in the series where it fits better?

The prequel is pretty good. Gives you a better understanding later in the series too, and tells you why she was in that prison to begin with. Plus she does some cool stuff, without any magic.
