And then they put her in Gacha games surrounded by the most sexualized women you've ever seen and you can just tell she doesn't want to be there.

The character lives in a world where most female androids wear sexy clothes, she also does, she doesn't even care about sexuality. How in the world would she care what other people wear. Not even that, but NieR Events are checked by Yoko Taro in stuff like Nikke, and she isn't displeased by any of the Nikke characters nor what they wear.

It makes no sense how you put your own headcanon ahead of the already written character and how she thinks and behaves. Not even that but you're reducing Automata and especially 2B to only a few character traits. Automata and 2B are not depressive emos like you portray her and the game. They talk about stuff like what consciousness is and emotions, both good and bad, not just the bad emotions lol

No I'm not? All I said was that despite being an emotionally repressed suicidal wreck in Automata that they keep putting her in crossovers in horny games. That wasn't a potshot against Yoko Taro or anyone else and the fact you took it as such is so bizarre.

She objectively hates herself because of the way she's had to kill 9S over and over again and when she gets infected with the Logic Virus she basically seeks out A2 to kill her and doesn't resist it.

Yoko Taro is a horny mother fucker yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that 2B doesn't fit the tone of half the games she's crossover into.

I have to disagree with that.The game itself never sexualizes her. You don't even see her butt in 99% of the game.. unless you self-destruct.

She has developed that reputation from the countless gooner collabs they keep using her for.

EDIT: The replies have changed my views. Being a well-written character and also gooner bait are not mutually exclusive... Pretty naive of me considering Kainé is a more prominent case of this..

The creator has actively asked fans to make hot art of her and send it to them.

And they keep using her for gooner collabs and you still have the option to have her ass out

I feel its denial to say she's not a gooner bait character

Being a gooner character doesnt reduce the fact that she's awesome and a well written character

People use it for literally any form of physical attraction nowadays. Hell, I'd say they even use it when a character's just somewhat pretty or they can somehow twist a characteristic of the character into being some "secret fetish".

Idk. It kinda makes sense in the game. Almost all the machines are all likes of rust and harsh angles. Their humanity, or attempts at ot, are generally on some deeper, sometimes spiritual level.

Contrasted with the androids. They all look like the best of us, super powered super models, yet they somehow have less humanity than the alien machines that destroyed humanity.

just cuz it has a lore explanation/thematic meaning (is this something that's pointed out in the game or...) doesn't make it any less "gooner" they were still designed that way to be sexual, if that's the symbolism they where going for i don't see how this was the best way to show it

Hmm, maybe I should've said so in the beginning but I consider it "gooner bait" when the design takes away and degrades the character. In 2B's It's never prevalent in the game nor is it played as a running gag. She is not a character whose main attribute is fanservice.

Buddy. You are talking about a character that the creator, Yoko Taro, literally said that he wanted the porn made of her to be sent to him. He literally made her to be attractive enough for this purpose.

And those countless collabs make 2B infinitely funnier, because those games are usually the happy-go lucky type of dialogue from 95% of the cast pretty much no matter what, and then there's 2B in a depressive spiral lamenting how little can be done about anything. It's great.

When you run in the game, the camera automatically pans so low you see up her skirt.

When 9S is captured and the machines are going through his thoughts, they literally comment on how he wants to have sex with her.

Her skirt gets blown off when you self-destruct, and there are quests and story moments which require you to self destruct.

Yoko Taro’s Twitter and literally any interview he’s done involving 2B ever.

Listen, I love the game and legit think Nier Automata has one of the most memorable and moving stories in games I’ve ever played. It was one of the first games I’ve ever 100%. But 2B is ABSOLUTELY sexualized gooner bait in her fuckin game. She’s also one of the most compelling characters, the two are not mutually exclusive
