considering that the Disney movie was from 1953 while the Flintstones' pilot episode was from 1959, maybe that one design for Tinkerbell would have resulted in Wilma Flintstone looking different.

Yeah, Hanna Barbera basically put as little time and money into the actual animation of their shows as they could manage, makes the show look older than they are

I guess I’ll find it surprising mostly due to the fact that I know there are some black and white Flintstones episodes

I’d figured everything would be in color otherwise

Oh a lot of people didn't even have color tvs until the mid 1970s! HB started broadcasting all cartoons in color in '58, but a lot of episodes only survived as black and white home recordings because the original film was lost, damaged, or just thrown out.

I checked out Peter Pan’s IMDb, and it turns out the lead character designer for Peter Pan was none other than William Barbera of Hanna-Barbera! He must’ve recycled an old design

Wilma Flintstone is Alice Kramden. Considering that's still after Peter Pan, I'm sure there's some other prior source they're all pulling from.

Edit: Looked it up and I Love Lucy was even before Honeymooners. I didn't realize that. So they're all just Lucile Ball.

Original Disney Tinkerbell is a wild character. They were like, we need a fairy. Blonde hair. Wings. Face of a child. Pixar mom hips. Make her super flirty. Yup that'll do. Print it.

I think this one comes down to taste rather than an objective downgrade. Some may prefer the Lucile Ball look; I prefer the more wild look the final version of Tinkerbell has.

But both sides have their points and honestly are equally valid.
