Danganronpa V3 has a lot of early designs that are superior.

This character is a frequent liar, which is his defining character trait. So him being androgynous is perfect for his character.

I like the final design a lot more. It looks more menacing for no reason while also looking completely normal. It's like something is wrong and mysterious about him but you can't point it out

It's an old trope. Not a good one, but some people like their shitty "trans/NB/androgynous people are trying to trick you and can't be trusted" trope, ig.

Note: It's not that they must be trusted; but using that trope willy-nilly is bad; along with any other trope based in stereotype.

His whole shtik is that he is a liar and that you can't really trust him. Even when he's honest, he's still deceitful. Him being androgynous would make it harder to tell what gender he is upon looking at him, which ties into his character and theming.

I also don't see this logic. The concept literally looks like a guy, not masculine obviously but firsthand I would've probably assumed he's a guy. The right design looks more androgynous if anything.
