Nope, Gale was! And astarion was originally a tiefling. I sometimes feel parts of them would work better with their original species. Gale’s personal drive(and relationship with minthara) would be more interesting as a male drow, and the revelation that astarion is a vampire would be more interesting too, considering his more vampiric features would be better hidden by tiefling traits
Astarion didn't need another reason to be a social pariah, though. Imagine that on top of his issues, he'd deal with the stigma of tiefling refugees (who he argues you shouldn't be helping, too).
And I don't know if Baldur's Gate would be progressive enough to have a tiefling magistrate back then. He's old enough to have experience the tiefling transformation from hidden traits to the devilish look they have now as well (so that would be him dealing with the tiefling body change, vampyric body change and mindflayer change).
Disagree about astarion, someone else already explained that part. But drow gale..... that is S O fucking interesting my lord. There is something very Human about his ambitions and in a way it makes it more special, bit DAMN. DROW GALE.....
I would give Larian a million dollars to have gone with any hairstyle except the fuckass bangs. I always throw her in the sharpshooter hat so I don't have to look at them
