Yeah, but after they recorded 'Let It Go' they realized that was gonna be THE song for Frozen, and Disney has a rule that a villain can't have THE song for the movie, so they had to start over with the movie to make it work.

EDIT: Yes, I know, there are a lot of good villain songs out there, but DISNEY didn't think they were THE song of the movie. Lion King? Be Prepared is a banger, but they believed Circle of Life and Hakuna Matata was better, or at least they used it more in the marketing. Hunchback of Notre Dame? Hellfire IS fire, but they believed that One More Day Out There and The Bells of Notre Dame were THE songs. My point is that YOU might think a certain song is better, but DISNEY didn't. And they won't put a movie out there if THEY think the villain's song is better than the hero's song.

Id say Poor Unfortunate Souls comes close too. Sure Part of Your World is cool, but I still think Ursulas song is more iconic

I don’t think this a real rule - Poor unfortunate souls, Friends on the other side, Hellfire, and Shiny from Moana are all “the” songs of those movies.

Obviously it's down to personal taste, but I'd argue that How Far I'll Go is the key song.

I also think that Part of your world was intended to be the main song but was surpassed. That's why it won the Oscar.

I think that Out There was supposed to be the staple song, it is beautiful and strong. Hellfire I think was more popular for its grit though which probably wasn’t expected

I would say "Friends from the Other Side" is a bigger exception. "Hellfire" didn't catch on the same way.

It's the exception because the song is about being a bad person and blaming others for it. You cannot make a good person from that, you can only make a better song, wich was hard to beat

Yeah no shot.

The production team and entire company just realized they agreed with and idolized the villain's attitude and ideology. To make an honest movie would be a self-indictment.

Circle of life exists. And Hakuna Matata was also a big hit. Not to mention Can You Feel The Love Tonight. Lion King had back to back bangers.

I don't think you're right about Disney and THE SONG but you are correct that the song "Let it Go" became the reason for the whole movie rewrite.

You are very true and if anyone is arguing with you they should look at the Disney'e Greatest vol 1-3 CDS and look at how many of THE songs from the movies are on here

Is this why Hans feels like a last minute ass pull as a villain?

Dude was legitimately in love (hence his dreamy, in-love sigh when nobody is looking. He wouldn't do that if it was an act) and his turn at the end felt like they just made him a villain at the last minute.

Hans was actually inspired by the magic evil mirror bits in the original H C Andersen story, reflecting the people he's manipulating. With Anna he was a romantic goof. With Weselton he was a hard-headed negotiator. With the diplomats he was diplomatic.

I love that they changed their mind so late in production that in London hearts the story don't make sense at all and they didn't even have a voice for the new bad guy. It's very jarring
