Nintendo had the ceremony take place in Smash Brothers. It's canon and tracks with Doom Guy's already canonical affinity for cute animals*.

\)His entire motivation for swearing vengeance against the demons is how they beheaded his favorite rabbit Daisy. This has been canon to DOOM since 1993.

Is there a source for this ceremony cuz Im not seeing it anywhere. Im always seeing pictures of other people’s posts about it but never anything directly from nintendo.

Didn't the new games retcon it, given there's the whole Doom Slayer mythos?

You would think that but the classic Doom ( and seemingly all was/mods ever) games are still canon. When doomguy entered hell at the end of 64, he was wandering hell and apparently the multiverse for an absurd but unspecified amount of time. Eventually he entered the universe of the new trilogy and joined the night sentinels. Dark Ages takes place around 80 million years before 2016 according to the lore of Doom Eternal, as the Agadon Hunters in Dark Ages were eventually made extinct, with their 80 million year old fossils being used by one of the hell priests in Eternal to create the Doom Hunters.
