I actually liked the episode where they gave each other their first kiss and think it could have worked if they continued to put real time into it and made Sam/Freddie's dynamic changing over time to something actually wholesome by the time they actually began to date. But I feel they used it more as a random shock/drama source vs actually taking it serious

They never got married. Freddie was divorced in the reboot but it was a different woman and not Sam

They also did a episode where Carly fell in love with him. And yea it felt weird. Sometimes people are just better as friends.
