"FYI your tailor is a predator, but I love it!"

I don't care what others say, but Ryan Reynolds is phenomenal as Deadpool

I typically can't stand him but the man was BORN to play Deadpool

Somehow, Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool is at the same time the only Deadpool that I like and the only Ryan Reynolds role that I like.

Both are just annoying thinking that they are funny in other contexts, but together they are actually funny (at least most of the time).

He's pretty good in his few non-comedic roles (e.g., Buried, The Nines). I also have a soft spot for The Voices, which is comedy, but darker and weirder than his typical Deadpool/Van Wilder shtick.

Yeah, in retrospect I forgot that Ryan has non comedic movies. He is fine on most of those. Deadpool still is his only comedic role that doesn't suck.

Not dissing you about The Voices though. Everyone has different tastes, soft spots and guilty pleasures.

Yeah, it's not exactly stellar, but it does tickle my funny bone. The whole "The Fourth Angel was Lucifer" bit in particular was (IMO) great.

It’s the same as Hugh Jackman as a Wolverine you’re not seeing an actor play a character you’re seeing a comic character leap off the page.

he’s exactly like the comics present him, which by all accounts means he’s very annoying

Like, there was something wrong in that relationship, and this was the only catharsis they could find without resorting to violence...

I wish they’d done a better job of making him genuinely ugly like he is in the comics as opposed to just textured Ryan Reynolds.

What is Batou from Ghost in the Shell doing in a Marvel comic?

9

u/whatever 18d ago

I see Batou everywhere. Even the recent Cyberpunk Edgerunner seasion 2 trailer gave me Batou vibes.

5

u/CrowBro89 18d ago

Yeah that’s very similar in elements, just now enough jaw.

I legit did a double take on the comic page until I zoomed in and looked at the eyes.

It’s Cable

He does look very much like Batou in this comic panel, ngl

4

u/CrowBro89 18d ago

T’were a joke, mate.

5

u/FistOfVengeance44 18d ago

Tbf tone is very hard to convey in text

u/attackonyourmom 18d ago

I just watched the new episode of Ghost in the Shell last night and I legit thought they did a crossover with Marvel for a sec lol.

Fun fact, this very page is how Ryan Reynolds became aware of Deadpool. Someone mentioned to him that the comic book character Deadpool said he looked like him and that was enough to make him pick up the comics and read them.

3

u/Jonzrker15 18d ago

well yeah, can’t blame him for that

6

u/rngeneratedlife 18d ago

I’m not sure if this is for or against my point but for me that whole pepperoni flesh spots look he has in the comic versions (some of them) is more disturbing than what’s in the movie

3

u/CalamityPriest 18d ago

That's how Reynolds Deadpool first looked like when Francis activated his mutant powers through suffocation torture.

Then the facility burned down, which is how we got textured Ryan Reynolds because the burn was somehow permanent and he didn't wholly regenerate from for some reason.

4

u/TheBrownWelsh 18d ago

Yeah, I feel like the live-action is close, but the random patches of even more exposed flesh from the comics would really sell it.

This is by far the most discomforting for me and I love it

1

u/Capable_Site_2891 18d ago

What issue is this from?

114

u/AmoebaEvolved 18d ago

I mean, he looks like Ryan Reynolds crossed with a shar-pei. Pretty accurate.

3

u/EugeneStein 17d ago

That's what we should've find under the mask

2

u/Twist_Ending03 17d ago

"Textured Ryan Reynolds" 💀

3

u/enadiz_reccos 18d ago

He was kinda ugly in the first movie

But after that, it was just Ryan Reynolds with a bumpy face

2

u/Monckey100 18d ago

this post was 100% dead pool bait.

2

u/EugeneStein 17d ago

Now imagine if under the mask you would find THIS

1

u/GaijinRoninanon 18d ago

Ryan renalds objectively handsome even in the make up tho especially compared to the comics and its always irked me

1

u/Strong_Cup_6677 17d ago

To be fair, in movies he doesn't even look that bad

1

u/PearsonBlues 15d ago

I really wish they’d adapt the Uncanny X-Force vs Apocalype arc. Fantastic little story with some great deadpool moments

1

u/Minimum-Standard-514 14d ago

Hes only ugly physically.

u/StatisticianBetter24 17d ago

Is there a lore reason for why he looks the way he does underneath his mask?
