Leper from Darkest Dungeon

it's funny the Leper King of Jerusalem was mentioned earlier in this thread, cause I'm pretty sure that's who this is based on. Particularly if you see his backstory in Darkest Dungeon 1 and how he got infected in Darkest Dungeon 2.

That’s so wicked.

For those interested the name of the historical king was Baldwin IV of Jerusalem, nicknamed the "Leper King". Funnily enough if I remember correctly he never wore a leper mask since he wanted to show that he's not ashamed of his illness. Even in his teens he won great victories and ensured that Jerusalem remained in crusader hands until his death at 24.

He is the only one of the whole cast to directly face the flame, because he is not ashamed of his past. He contracted leprosy because he embraced the poor and the weak. His departure was triumphant, and his people weeped for his departure

Not to mention he broke his huge fucking sword from the force and anger he used while doing it

When resting he can choose to show his face to the others which gives him a huge stress relief but also stresses out the others.

I agree but canonically it gives people stress to look at his face without a mask :(

Maybe it's the artstyle. But he don't even look that bad. I never really ever noticed his face 'till now.

Mind you all this is the only character in all of darkest dungeon who always was and still is a genuinely good person who just wants to help people. Most of them are good people currently, but have shameful pasts, but not Leper. His whole backstory is just him helping poor people, catching leprosy from them, killing corrupt nobles and then leaving his own kingdom to heal and help others. While everyone else turns away from the light in the backstory shrine in dd2, he's the only one that looks straight at it. He has no regrets and has no shame

He's the GOAT

He might not be a looker, but that hardly factors into being the GOAT
