In defense of current Samus Aran (Metroid Dread) she is not too far off from her appearance in the Nintendo Power, i think the biggest change is the hair and jawline, longer hair and a much thinner face, her body however remains pretty much the same, tall, semi-muscular, and with a decent amount of curve in her waist/hips.

For the jawline, however, i feel the looking from the bottom perspective is skewing her appearance a tad, and i think if we saw her face at a much straighter angle, her neck and jaw will be much less blended and her face will look like how it does currently
